The CFL should just scan Divisions, and go back to a 16 game schedule. Everyone plays each other twice. Top two teams get byes, and the next 4 teams play off. It would at least put the best teams into positions to be in the Grey Cup.

Why would they voluntarily drop a game's revenue from the schedule?
It will be better when they expand to Quebec City and then just play home & home games with each team.

What's with the camouflage or plaid on the uniform? It just makes the uni look like crap.

As for Riders signing K Palardy, I guess they are done collecting RBs so now they move on to collecting kickers. What's next QB or receivers?

It sounded like Weston Dressler and Kory Sheets are going to be let go by the NFL team. Riders is not a shoo-in to re-sign them since from what I heard they are both free agents. I hope they both sign with the Eastern team like Montreal, Hamilton or even Ottawa.

The Ti-Cats are on a bye week. Isn't Collaros supposed to be back for Labour Day?? If not, they will battle the other two bottom feeders out east for 2nd place and the only hope of landing a playoff position other than the Argos.

I would be stunned if Dressler signed anywhere but with Saskatchewan. Ottawa will give him a blank cheque to sign but the Riders mean a lot to him. Sheets would be a free for all and I expect him not to sign with Saskatchewan if he does indeed get cut, as he'll get a lot of money thrown his way too. Riders need capable receivers, their RB committee is working for now.

Cohon stepping down
http://www.cfl.ca/article/mark-cohon...l-commissioner

Among the league’s accomplishments while Cohon has been Commissioner:

Expansion:
- The debut of the Ottawa REDBLACKS as the CFL returned to the national capital under strong local ownership.
- Exploring opportunities in Atlantic Canada through three successful Touchdown Atlantic games in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Broadcast:
- A vastly improved national broadcast deal with TSN and RDS which runs until 2018.
- A new U.S. broadcast deal with ESPN which runs until 2018.

Player Agreements:
- Successful negotiation of two Collective Bargaining Agreements that enhanced the fundamental business model of the CFL while bringing labour peace through 2018.

Football Operations:
- Introduction, in partnership with the CFLPA, of a ground breaking new drug policy, which saw the CFL become the first major professional sports league in North America to test for HGH.
- Establishment of a centralized command centre for more effective video review of coaches’ challenges during games.
- Enhanced health and safety through the introduction of concussion protocols, rule changes, enhanced discipline and grass roots programs to make our game safer for players and kids alike.

Stadium Renaissance:
- Construction of new or refurbished stadiums in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Hamilton, with another new stadium planned for Regina in 2017, and stadium improvement projects in Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal.

Grey Cups:
- The national celebration of the 100th Grey Cup in 2012 marked by a national tour for the historic trophy and capped by the wildly successful championship game and festival in Toronto.
- Improved profile and coverage of our national championship with sold out Grey Cup games and successful festivals in Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Regina as well as Toronto.

CFL Brand:
- Reinvigoration of the CFL brand and pride in our league through the landmark “This is Our League” marketing campaign.
- New and innovative fan friendly events and programs:
- Annual State of the League briefing hosted by Commissioner for CFL fans.
- Grey Cup Fan March which sees fans carry the Grey Cup to the stadium.
- A modernized rules committee process which invited fans to initiate rules changes.

Thought he did a decent job, pretty vanilla guy but he seemed to really love the game and did move it forward.

Damn... Cohon did a great job building on the CFL's fanbase. I became a Stamps fan thanks to his brand marketing and stronger TV deals with TSN

I hope the lockout didnt attribute to him to leaving

I've seen it suggested a few places that the teams had no input to their jerseys and that it was pretty much entirely Reebok/CFL that did the designs. If so that is brutal and explains why we have one good helmet out of all the uniforms released so far.

I personally cannot see this being true at all as I doubt any team would give up all control to an outside party in designing their uniforms.

Yeah I can't see them having no say whatsoever but if that is the case that's crappy.

But the team with the best helmets thus far (Stampeders) had their equipment manager help in the design process so maybe other teams didn't have any say.

Excited to see the full uniform though!

Yeah George Hopkins says he's responsible for the design of that slick helmet. I can't wait to see the uniform as well. If it's anything close to or as good as the helmet, I'll definitely get one once it is available for sale to public.

Anything to get people to come out I guess:

Arash Madani@ArashMadani1 min

Per my pal @mattsekeres: The #BCLions have guaranteed a win against Saskatchewan Sunday. If Leos lose, free tickets for ticket holders. #CFL

I like the move. Do you think they could afford a few free tickets assuming people will spend their money in concession?

lol, wow... here's the TSN article
http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=459960

as much as i dislike the Riders, i'd like to see them win just to witness how the BC Lions would follow up

Quote:
B.C. Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky has guaranteed his team will on Sunday, when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Speaking to TEAM 1040 radio in Vancouveron Thursday, Skulsky called Sunday "guaranteed win night" a BC Place and promised the team will give fans attending the game tickets to one the Lions' next four home games should they lose.

"It's a bold statement and I make it confidently because we have a message to deliver," Skulsky said. This is our backyard, this is the home of the B.C. Lions and let's get it on."

"We're gonna go and win and we're guaranteeing it."

I'm sure they're giving away second level tickets that they wouldn't sell anyway so it's a pretty good promotion.

The designs were entirely up to the individual teams. The Stamps marketing girl was on the fan 960 the other day explaining the process. ...Every team had veto power on any design presented to them and we're also allowed to incorporate anything they felt was important to their customers....hence the horse logo being included.

I guess that means that the riders fans think wheat kernels are something important?

What else could represent the province of Sask? A rectangle?

They are overly obsessed with wheat. I went to a wedding in Regina last year - wheat in the bride's bouquet, wheat for boutonieres, wheat with a candle in the centerpieces... I'm sure what they would do without the wheat symbol.
