So if you're white, you can't challenge someone's overuse of the race card?

Most scouts seem to think that Anthony Deangelo is going to be drafted well below his skill level as well (Dman with 71 pts in 51 gms) who may also not go in the first round due to percieved attitude issues, but hes white and cant pull the race card. Or is it because he has an Italian last name?

No, that's just because he can't play defense

It takes a lot to get suspended for a slur and he managed to do it

Either way, the drop has nothing to do with the color of his skin. Hes white, but still dropping based on attitude issues and on ice concerns. It doesnt only happen to black players.

Honestly, Ho-Sang sounds like the perfect Oiler. Undersized winger, entitled attitude, lots of sick toe drags... Is he a fan of sweatpants by chance?

5th among NA skaters. You can't ignore the European skaters or the goalies either.

Absolutely. I think he was maybe 7th or 8th ranked ov.
It's just a still painful subject for me lol.
Was a huge Getzlaf fan and wanted Flames to take him at 9 and finally give us that centre. Was hoping all the D would go first...
Hindsight suggests things might have turned out differently had that happened, but then that's always an easy game to play.

I have DeAngelo going not just in the first round but in the first half of it... I mean, just my opinion, but I'd be surprised to see him fall to someone in the 2nd. My personal rankings, having now done enough research and listened to enough people to have developed a second-hand opinion that could be considered sort of informed,
- Sam Reinhart
- Sam Bennett
- Leon Draisaitl
- Aaron Ekblad
- William Nylander
- Michael Dal Colle
- Nikolai Ehlers
- Kasperi Kapanen
- Robby Fabri
- Sonny Milano
- Brandon Perlini
- Jake Virtanen
- Kevin Fiala
- Anthony DeAngelo
- Ivan Barbashev
No, I did not forget Nick Ritchie or Haydn Fleury.

Twice. In one year. Very difficult to do.

Crazy list. Big emphasis on purely skilled forwards regardless of their size. NHL teams aren't going to see it the same way IMO. You are underrating size, strength, defensive play and character it seems.
DeAngelo looks likely to drop due to character concerns. Bet he's on the flames do not draft list.
Is this your prediction of how the draft will go or just where you'd take them?

He's probably just an idiot and less of a bigot, saying things in the heat of the moment he knows will get the strongest reaction

Still a serious enough character flaw I wouldn't hire him

Another great article on Ho-Sang:
http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/11...ed-frustrating
edit:
with 2 articles in major sports publications within 24 hours, can really tell his agent is doing some damage control

Ekblad is exciting because drafting a blue chip on the blue line is often hard to do ...almost as bad picking great goaltenders.
It also makes picking him #1 as a bit of a risk. 2006 Draft had Eric Johnson go #1 overall ...He is a good NHL defenceman, but Toews went #4 that year.
The odds of picking a franchise player after skipping those great prospects at Center are statistically poor.

On top of his diverse background, he was raised to be independent. He was taught to question everything. His mom is a business analyst who works with CEOs and business owners to try to fix their problems. In her world, one of the worst things you can do is continue to do something just because it's always been done that way. The first questions she asks is, "Why?" Ericka encouraged her kids to do the same.
In the hockey world, a lot of people take comfort in doing things the way they've always been done. Getting people in hockey to change is a grueling process that takes years.
|
We have to keep in mind the hockey establishment is extremely conservative. I'd guess to a hockey manager or coach, half the players in the NFL and NBA are head-cases. There's definitely risk around Ho-Sang, but I don't think the guy is a d-bag. He's just far more of an independent thinker than the conformist world of hockey is accustomed to.

2 days, people. No more mock drafts and endless Ritchie arguments, finally it'll all be settled.
But I'm curious, who did Loubo and Boomer have the Flames taking in the sn960 mock? I missed it.

One picked Bennett, one picked Reinhart.
With this draft, did you expect anything different? lol
