I think Phaneuf is far more of an issue for the Leafs being perma-bad.

LOL. A "1B" winger? Have you seen this guy's stats? He's one of the elite wingers in the game.
"Leadership" is overrated. You can absolutely win with Kessel as a core piece because he's a great playoff performer.

Lupul was drafted 7th, Nylander 8th. Suddenly, with no games played by anyone, he's now number 4 of all prospects, nevermind his own draft. Good logic there

So ESPN, the same ESPN that picked the Leafs the worst franchise in ALL of sports 3 days ago, is overrating Nylander because they are Leaf fans (Based in the U.S).?
Damn Toronto media...
Seriously, can you point to anything other than ESPN saying Nylander is overrated? The media is not overrating him.
If anything, Kadri became underrated because the Leafs drafted him. He was considered a "Bust" by 19 by the Toronto media and Brayden Schenn, with worse stats (Drafted 2 spots earlier) was seen as a future star.

How much validation from Flames fans do you need exactly?

ESPN didn't create the list, Corey Pronman did.

So much quotable tripe. Never change!
See you in December Tuna, after the Leaf's first major collapse of the season.

He's not "Toronto Media".
Can the Leafs get compliments from anyone without "Overrated Because He's a Leaf" gets said?

NJ has zero young forwards to build around in their system. And the forwards on their current squad are old.
The one advantage Jersey has is a very good coach.

You still didn't answer the question. What has changed in the intervening handful of months that warrants such a leap in rankings for Nylander?

Is that what you're here for?
Edit: I'll start. Leafs helped contribute to one of The Hip's best songs. By not winning another, until... he was discovered!

Nylander's "Leap" only occurred in one ranking. The others he did not. That one ranking is ESPN. Please explain how this is only due to him being a Leaf. (And the one who did the ranking, always was a big Nylander fan-long before the Leafs drafted him).
You can't pull the "Toronto Media" excuse on this. Doesn't hold.

I never said this was because he was drafted by the Maple Leafs. I do think that the ranking is spurious, since—as you yourself have pointed out—this is but one ranking, and it strikes me as disingenuous for you to employ this outlier as your definitive metric by which you have asserted that Nylander is the #4 prospect in the world.
So, if you want to believe this to be true, then explain what has happened in the past few months to quantify this rather preposterous claim.

The "Toronto Media tarted Covering Him" was mentioned by another poster which I had originally responded to.

Well, this was mentioned because it would seem to be a plausible explanation for why Nylander made such a huge leap in the rankings. Whether we accept that as true or not is debatable, but at least it is an attempted argument.
So far, you have provided nothing. Can you provide a reason, or are you merely parroting nonsense?

So ESPN are Leaf homers? How is this plausible? Seems like a very, very weak attempt at explaining it.

BigTuna wanna cracker?
Do you actually consider Nylander the 4th best NHL prospect? Or will you keep avoiding questions?

Oh God. Again, I HAVE NOT ASSERTED THAT PRONMAN'S BIZARRE RANKING IS A PRODUCT OF HIS BEING A MAPLE LEAFS HOMER. Just answer the damn question. What has changed since draft day, and how does it explain Nylander's suddenly high ranking?

Where? Where has his ranking changed? It has not. So why are you asking this question?
