@DarrenHaynes_CP: As Agostino signed a contract that includes 2013-14 season, he would have needed to have been assigned to AHL prior to NHL trade deadline.

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Players who sign now and then play in AHL, it's because they sign contract that begins next year and sign a tryout to play in AHL this year.

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Even after Flames season ends, Agostino (and any other college kids that sign a contract beginning in 2013-14) can't be sent to Abbotsford.
I guess Hanowski will definitely be going back to Abby and Granlund when he gets back from injury. With Agostini and Stajan back we are starting to have a full roster. I wonder who Flames will send back when Hudler comes back?

I'm guessing Agostino will have a similar experience as Hanowski next season. Start in the AHL and then get called up later in the season. Though I think Agostino should have a better upside than Hanowksi.

I don't know about his quality of linemates over the years but any worries that his point production over the past 3 years is pretty flat?

not really. Last year they were a stacked team, whereas they were pretty meh this year. They lost two key guys to graduation in Miller and Laganiere, leaving only Agostino and Root as reliable scorers. Agostinos numbers this year a pretty good when you consider that.

Boring Sean Monahan@boringmonahan35m
Kenny Agostino and I both use white and black tape on our sticks. I didn't realize until I looked at his stick, I couldn't believe it.

I'm happy we signed him. From the Iggy trade, Agostino is my favourite piece (aside from the 1st aka Klimchuk). I think Hanowski has potential to be a decent 4th line, maybe 3rd line guy, but I see Agostino as being a great third liner with upside. Here's to hoping, but I'm always a little skeptical how NCAA guys translate to the AHL/NHL (not sure why ).

Also, I found this online.

So you're saying he's your least favourite piece of the Iggy trade (beside the Hanowski piece)?

Since Flames have Agostino and top prospect in Gaudreau, thought you'd like this article from 2010. Their teams faced each other in NJ Private schools championship - Agostino's came on top, though his school (Delbarton) is tops in NJ in most recent years and plays several MN, MA schools as well. Hope you enjoy it.

For those interested in what's going with his degree:

Quote:
The newest Calgary Flames forward still has plenty of homework to complete his degree from Yale University.
Seeing as Agostino, who is majoring in political science, bolted after his hockey team was eliminated with four courses to complete, he’s not entirely certain how those studies will be affected. He had the sense to reach out to his professors upon leaving for the Stampede City, but hadn’t heard back from them as of Tuesday morning.
“Hopefully I get some positive e-mails back that they’ll work with me while I’m gone,” he said sheepishly after the team’s morning skate Tuesday in preparation for facing the Buffalo Sabres.
“I’ll be trying to bang out some papers during the day when I’m not at the rink.”

Forward lines actually starting to resemble an NHL team with Hudler and Glencross back.

Glencross-Stajan-Hudler
Cammalleri-Backlund-Byron
Agostino-Monahan-Colborne
Bouma-Galiardi-McGrattan

I like the look of those lines. If we stay healthy we might actually move out of the bottom 5. I want to draft in the top 5.....
