Situations like this just make me love having Mcgratton on the team more and more. He is such a team first player, in that gif on Page 1 he is front and centre protecting the team dressing room. He respects other fighters and is probably one of the more intelligent goons in the league as far as what his job is.

That's the only game I'll see live all season and it was a fun one. As soon as we saw the opening line up my buddy and I placed a bet on whether the fights would start one second into the game, or two seconds in. The clock said 2, but I think it took less than 1 second for the first punch to be thrown.
Either way, probably the most entertaining first 1 or 2 seconds to a period I've seen. The rest was okay too. Looked like Brodie logged about 40 mins out there.

Good to see that once again Bieksa tried to pick his spot and got his a%% handed to him.
Also typical to see Burrows and Kesler are still cheap shotting losers, nothing changes with those two morons.
Torts is a coach that is hard to like or respect, he's a windbag who's trying to play the angel here. "But but but" his lower lip trembling "They started their fourth line so I had to put out my tag team of idiots"
Then he totally acts like a fool with his dressing room attack while another Canuck is mouthing off while in a if someone breathes on me I'll faint look on his face.
Torts should get 5 games.
The Flames aren't innocent either, but whatever, if we lose some players to suspension its well worth it to see worthless goofs like Seisito getting his a%% handed to him.
Now for the next few days we can hear the Canucks acting like tough guys, or whining and crying about their mistreatment.
Either the Flames put in a great effort or the Canucks are radically over rated.

Did anyone see the mom covering her little boy's ears by the penalty box when Gio and the other guy were chirping? That was hilarious.

Honestly that is what I was thinking all game. Very chippy game and you just know Iggy would have been in the middle of it knocking heads around. First time I've really missed him in a game since he got traded

That's too bad. Good poster on a bad night after a loss in his family.
Getting baited pretty good too. But you gotta apply the rules equally, and he did melt down.

I hope it's not a lifetime suspension. He was definitely over the top last night (including some very questionable PM's), but I think it was just a really bad night for him.

First game I've ever been to at Rogers Arena, and it was incredible. I was in section 103, and somehow it worked out that our rows were a little Flames fan oasis. Usually at the Dome, I catch myself being critical of the Flames. Not tonight. It was great being a fan in an opposing rink.
My favourite moment was there was a Flames fan near the end of the row with a Heritage Classic jersey on with the name plate "Re-tooling". There were some great Canucks fans around us, but he was being beaked by a real scumbag in front of him. One of those people who can't take a joke. In the middle of scumbag saying "We don't have a losing team" and "Who cares about your Stanley Cup?", I yelled over "Hey! You know what we don't have as well? Seventeen consecutive losing seasons!". Whole section was howling and the guy completely shut up.

Went to the game lastnight as well, tickets were a birthday present from my wife. I knew there was gonna be a scrap between Grats and Sestito but didn't think a line brawl would break out! Great start to the game, Burrows was his little rat self, face washing guts then running away with his little jaw protector on, can't stand that guy.
The Nucks fans were actually pretty friendly, some drunk guy came up to me and yelled "Flames suck! ". I replied " yeah well you guys aren't gonna win the cup either!" He laughed and said you're right then went on his merry little way.
Really too bad we lost but I thought the guys played great and should hold their heads high for the effort. Backlund is a player, did all the little things and created some chances. I was also impressed with Byron, physical for a small guy.

I was wondering if people saw that. CBC missed it, and when they showed the replay of why Bouma was incensed, they started the clip to late.
Before they were actually scrapping, Kassian went full Burrows and stuck his thumb into Bouma's eye during a facewash.
I hope the league gets a decent clip of it.
And lol at the Nuck fans trying to suggest that Sestito won the fight over McGrattan.

He was showing as sin bin last night. If that changed, I would imagine he continued into PMs. That said, I think he'll be back. But he certainly needed a time out.

I don't think there is anything wrong with starting your tough guys in an attempt to energize the team. The escalation came when Torts replied in kind - which is also fine.
But don't whine about it afterwards like a baby.
Having said that, I think that was exactly what both teams needed.
The Flames got a major boost of energy, heart and testosterone in the middle of a long dark season.
The Nucks, struggling recently, got pretty much the same thing.
I wouldn't be surprised to see both teams play some inspired hockey for the next little while.
