I suppose that's true, but Sweden has always had a pretty nice way of playing hockey, kind of refreshing to be honest. They work really well as a team and their passing and play making is pretty to watch. They have focused a little more in playing a grittier, physical game lately though, I definitely agree with that.

Well, kinda makes sense because Canada has like many times more players than the European countries combined, also hockey started in Canada...

Speak for yourself.
I HATE SWEDEN, and I HATE SWEDISH HOCKEY.
I would love nothing more than to see that team pounded into oblivion. If not in the semifinals by Russia (whom I don't hate quite as much as I despise my nordic neighbours), then absolutely by Team Canada.

Awesome, didn't know Norway had hockey fans. Why this hate though? Tired of losing against us, or is there some deeper reason?

I don't hate Swedish hockey per se, I just hate the Swedish media so much, they are so cocky towards everyone. That's my biggest reason why I want Sweden to lose everytime they are on the ice.

I'm a Canadian living in Norway. Incidentally, a few weeks ago I actually saw a student wearing a Calgary Flames jersey here at the University where I work.
As for my reasons, it's complicated, and it has nothing to do with supposed Swedish hockey dominance (the suggestion to which I find positively hilarious as a Canadian).
No, Sweden is to international hockey what the Vancouver Canucks are to the NHL, and that is reason enough to hate. So much arrogance despite their clear inferiority to Russia, Canada, and possibly even the USA.

In what way is Sweden clearly inferior to Russia and USA? Strange statement. I can't see it, neither currently or historically, unless you count the Soviet Union. And I doubt any country beats Canada in arrogance regarding hockey.
Anyway Canada and USA have what, at least 10 times the number of hockey players as any other country? Of course that will show in the number of players in the NHL, if that's one of your indications of inferiority.

For those interested...According to Wikipedia, at December 2012 Canada had 617,107 registered players and Sweden had 69,921.

I'm gonna agree with Vilzeh though. The Swedish media always write Sweden up as champions before every tournament, but I don't think anyone hates Swedish media more than Swedish people do. Bunch of communists who become die hard nationalists during big sporting events, the lot of them!
