I believe in the Jays.

One of the reasons Burke said that he sacked Feaster was because Buffelo was also GM'less... if you had to hurry to fire a guy before some other team gets opportunities to lure the best talent (not that I actually think Burke will do that, I think he'll just hire one of his old crony's) then you're going to hurry to hire them. Burke said he's not patient... and for better or for worse I believe him.

Or maybe he just didn't like the direction Feaster was taking the team?
Maybe he didn't trust Feaster to make the upcoming trades at the deadline?

It doesn't matter if you agree, it's the truth.
Teams aren't allowing Futa (or others) to walk before the draft. It's just not happening. I know you want to discuss it, but you're not prying a member of the scouting department away from a team prior to the draft. MAYBE if the guy isn't part of that department, but Burke has said he would like a scouting specialist to run the draft, so the Flames are going to wait.
Teams will absolutely block guys from taking jobs with another team, they have, and will.

If you ask me, Burke wants to be GM. He's going to do whatever he can to secure that position. Sitting on his hands waiting for the "right candidate" is a surefire strategy...they'll never be good enough.

Did people really believe Burke when he said he didn't want to be GM? its been quiet on the Flames end because we've already found our GM. They're just trying to save face and not make the organization look bad by waiting it out.

I'm going to guess that you're wrong on this one. Wasn't there recently someone that was hired to a new organization on the condition that he couldn't be involved with his new team's draft whatsoever?

Then you are going to be hiring out of work re-treads. From all the articles i have read if the flames want a Fuca, Benning, ect. their teams will not let them go until after the draft.
You are acting like Burke has no GM experience or does not know how to win trades? As for the new guy coming in, i can safely say that if he does not want to assemble a team the way Burke wants it to look like, there is no chance he will be hired.

I'm really getting the impression that the people who don't like this trade are people who just don't like Burke. Which is fine, you're obviously entitled to your opinions on him. I just think it's odd that a nothing for nothing trade would be raising any "direction of the franchise" type of questions/speculation.

Burke had a million reasons to fire Feaster. The "got to beat Buffalo to GM" was more lip service for letting Feaster go before x-mas break.

He does not have to do anything other than tell KK and ownership he wants the job. I have no doubt they would love for him to take GM title.
I'm hoping that if he does not get the one person he wants for the job, he takes it himself. We will find out this summer.

If you like or hate this trade you are wrong. This honestly is one of the most useless trades in history. Doesn't make us better or worse.

I am perfectly fine with this trade. Nemisz is not going to make the NHL with the Flames and unless he is a late bloomer he will be a career AHLer or headed off to Europe.
Westgarth is 4th line NHLer, we traded an AHLer for him. They are both expiring contracts so its pretty much a nothing trade that adds some toughness to the Flames while losing an AHLer?
Nothing really to over analyze or over react to.
He wasn't when we traded Jackman or when McDermid was acquired. Neither move looks like it was well thought out, the moment they traded Jackman they seemed to scramble to replace him.
Ugh. Carolina fans on HF have nothing good to say about him and glad he's gone...
Not sure why we did it.
