Rumblings going around yesterday that Winnipeg are talking trade with Saskatchewan to get Drew Willy's rights before he hits the free agent market on Tuesday. That right there is just absurd. Why the hell would you trade for someone who is less than a week away from hitting the market. Though on other side I can see why they would do this desperate times call for desperate measures.
Id say the Kansas City Chiefs are fairly serious about Weston Dressler... Thats IF he makes the team though. NFPLA records show he signed a 3 year deal. He could make $420K in 14, 510K in 15, and 600K in 16. I believe $420k is the minimum salary for 1st year players as well.

So is Jade Etienne good enough to crack the starting lineup? Or is he our equivalent to Anthony Parker?
After striking out on Collaros and Burris, Bombers settle for Willy at QB. A decent prospect, but he hasn't proven much in his limited playing time IMO. Unless they can bring in a talented rookie, you almost have to hope that he steps up and earns the starting role because Hall and Goltz are nothing more than backups at this point.

According to Jade Etienne's twitter he has signed with Saskatchewan. From what I know Rory Kholert is the one Winnipeg has their eyes set signing among those two. Yeah, Ottawa owns his CFL rights until Tuesday but Rory Kholert now has a family in Winnipeg and that's a huge reason he will be back there next season. IMO now watch Ottawa go overpay for Nick Moore.

It's interesting to see how player preference really drives player movement in the CFL. Guy's becoming FA's and signing with their home town team (i) because they can, and (ii) the extra money they might get elsewhere isn't enough to sway them elsewhere.

I would think it is somewhat of an indicator that Kory Sheets will be back with Saskatchewan after they released Chris Garrett this morning.
Simoni Lawrence is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings. Athletic enough that he could make an intimidate impact on special teams.

Paul Woldu and Jade Etienne re-sign with Sask.
Saskatchewan also released LB Diamond Ferri. Big loss for them. Perhaps he is going to sign an NFL contract?

I'd be surprised if the NFL came calling for Ferri. The way I see it is the Riders have now saved 15 yards in penalties against per game!

The mayor of Halifax says the city should have its own mixed-use stadium and he likes the idea of having a CFL team as an anchor tenant, but Mike Savage says discussions with the league and potential investors are just starting.
Savage, who met Monday in Halifax with CFL commissioner Mark Cohon, declined to discuss timelines or the degree of interest from the private sector or other levels of government -- the lack of which has sunk previous bids.
"We don't have a stadium and I don't have a model for a stadium," the mayor told a news conference at a downtown hotel.
"I have a belief that we should have a stadium in this municipality and it would be great if the CFL was part of that... . This is the year we have to figure out how serious we are about having a stadium."
Savage said city council voted two years ago to contribute $20 million toward construction of a 20,000-seat stadium for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup of soccer, but there weren't enough partners to make the proposal a reality.
At the time, the provincial government said it wasn't interested in contributing, which left private investors reluctant to sign on.
"There is an atmosphere in this city that says we can do some things that we couldn't do before," Savage said. "In terms of a stadium, the private sector will always say, 'Where's government on this?' "
Cohon said establishing a CFL team in Halifax is part of the league's long-term plan. But he declined to name any of the national or local business leaders that he and the mayor are talking to.
"It's Day 1, guys," he said. "It's our first meeting."

Farhan Lalji reporting the Redblacks are listening to offers for Kevin Glenn, with a reported initial asking price of a first round pick. Good luck with that as that will never happen.

I have no idea what he is saying, but I don't believe it's a positive message.

lol. as if anyone would be that dumb. Who would trade for him at this point? Everyone has a QB they seem happy with at #1. BC Has Lulay, Edmonton has Reilly, Calgary has BLM and Tate, Sask has Durant, Winnipeg seems to want to give Willy a go as their starter, Hamilton has Collaros, Toronto has Ray, MTL has Smith. Maybe MTL and Winnipeg show some interest but I can see a 2nd round or 3rd round pick being all they'd give up. Stupid use of their pick on Glenn if they planned on Burris all along.

Hearing from a source in Toronto that the #Argos have agreed to terms with @sheaemry. Huge signing - a ratio changer for the Boatmen
