RIP TSN. Personally, I love and prefer the TSN hockey presentations over Sportsnet.

Some games will get the better talent on SN (like Kypreos)

I don't think it's incorrect to say that Kypreos is by far SN's best analyst (and really, only "insider"). Yes, I understand that's not saying much... just indicative as to how poor SN's production has been.

I wouldn't worry too much about the audio synching. I have never noticed this issue on Sportsnet East or Ontario.

I have to say that sample Saturday posted a couple posts up has piqued my interests. Only issue is that at my current place we have Bell satellite (provided by the landlord)...which comes with TSN by default but not Sportsnet, though I'm sure that we could make an arrangement for when this happens.

Rogers will also have input on all HNIC broadcasts including control over editorial content and on-air talent. That's massive.

Best anaylst does not equal talent. Of all the panels out there, who is regarded as the best analyst?

I agree with you though, SN's production is not well done.

Its a move Sporsnet pretty much had to make if they ever wanted to actually compete with TSN. Still doesn't change the fact Sportsnet is run like a second rate operation, but content is always the key and now they have the most important content in Canada.

One less excuse to have to suffer through alien head, man voice Hedger.

Now I hope that SN loses the promo guy whose voice sounds like a long sustained fart.

It sounds like they're basically going to be running the show, which means they should have access to all the best talent (in front of and behind the camera) in Canada, whether they currently work for TSN, Sportsnet, or the CBC.

I agree. I read this as we are going to get HNIC basically 7 days a week (on a good week). I am all for that.

Maybe if they work Friedman harder he will give up on the fluff pieces and just focus on telling us what happens behind closed doors in the GM and BoG offices.

So... if Rogers controls everything, is this the end of Coaches Corner/Ron MacLean? I'd assume CBC would let Don Cherry go to Rogers since he serves no purpose without hockey, but would they let Ron MacLean go?

Stanley Cup games on Sportsnet seems so wrong.

Here's a larger version of the Sample Saturday graphic I posted earlier:

Spoiler!

It will definitely be strange to see Hockey Night in Canada on City and Sportsnet.

I wonder what Sportsnet NHL will be? Is it going to replace the NHL Network? Is it a new network, or is it like the Flames, Oilers, and Canucks "companion" channels?

Sportsnet owns the CHL package too.

At least Ron Burgundy is coming to do Curling lol.

So what is TSN left with:
-CFL - Hoefully they really get behind this, maybe even buy a team?
-NFL - Sunday and Monday nighters.
-MLB - Sunday Night baseball
-World Juniors

SN:
-Blue Jays
-NFL - Thursday Night
-NHL National coverage
-UFC
-WWE

I think the Raptors are divided all over the place.

With all the regional channels SN has been buying/making this had to happen eventually.

Now my damn cellphone bill will also increase.

This is stunning. I don't believe fans of Eastern teams realize what's coming as they haven't had to witness the subpar presentation, delayed video, PBP guys on a budget, etc. that we have.

Steven Brunt on the Fan saying he's even stunned at the wad of cash Rogers spent to get this. Will there be money left over to properly orchestrate this whole thing? I imagine that this won't affect the Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver markets as they will continue with their basement budget telecasts but Leafs fans won't stand for the dog and pony show Western Canada has been saddled with.

Sportsnet does Leafs & Senators games in Ontario. Leafs TV also has some (which is owned by MLSE which Rogers has a stake in).

Some reports that CBC's agreement with Rogers is only for the first 4 years of this deal. Speculation that after the 4th year Rogers may push CBC out. Basically those 4 years will be essentially a transition period while Rogers takes over HNIC.

I'm pre-raged for the Flames games getting jammed onto Sportsnet One/360 so I can't just go with the basic Rogers cable package here in Ontario.
