I know it's been discussed, but any updated recommendations on screenprotector, cases for this device?
This is the one I bought. Works out to $2 + shipping for each screen protector assuming the code is still active. Hopefully it is.

I'm a fan of ghost armor, I think that's what it is. Get all my phones done. They have a kiosk in Southcentre.

Check out Spigen. Not only do their cases look awesome, it's well made as well. Same for the screen protectors. A little pricy maybe but again excellent quality if that matters to you for a piece of plastic over your phone.

Alternatively any of the cases from Google look good as well.

Not without rooting. Check out something like Swipepad for quick and instant access to apps.

Pretty happy with this phone overall. My only complaint would be the limited battery capability and it's large size. It is lightning fast, however, and the OS is a welcome change from iOS.

You realize that's the price of getting a 5" screen right?

So I received my N5 a few days ago. Most things have been discussed here:
-kit Kat is great.
-google now is fantastic.
-screen is the best I've seen.
-it's lightning fast.
-large screen but doesn't feel bulky in the hand.
-the speaker is really bad. Thus the volume of notifications is also bad.
-the camera is mediocre at best.
-I've always liked a notification light but why google put it at the bottom, below the screen is kinda silly. Personally, I'd like to see it at the top so I don't have to slide it all the way out of my pocket or cup holder in the car to see it.

Edit: Forgot to mention battery life. Appears to be substantially better than my old S3. With moderate to heavy usage today, i'm at 22% at 16hrs. Thats pretty good IMO. Certainly better than expected.

Mine was shipped 9 days ago, still waiting for UPS to deliver. My iphone is literally on its last legs, I'm lucky to get 2hrs of battery before it dies.

Cannot wait to get my hands on this phone.

I'm having the commonly reported wifi issues in certain places - for instance, Nexus 4 easily picked up networks at my workplace, bu Nexus 5 struggling.

Otherwise, absolutely love this phone.

Is the entire screen useless now, like would have happened with the Nexus 4?

Mom dropped her Nexus 4 and there was a hairline crack that didn't even reach the actual display, and the entire front half of the phone was garbage. My mom HATES lg/google now, especially when she looks at my sisters iPhone which has 1234920573490 cracks on the screen and still responds to touch.

Touchscreen still works just fine. But the corner is messed up and there are cracks all over the screen. Luckily the middle cracks aren't deep so you don't feel them to the touch, so it's functional, but damnit it was so nice, and now it looks like garbage.

Just picked one up at Rogers...$0 on a new 2 year deal. So far very nice phone indeed. It was a toss up between the LG G2 and the Nexus 5, but I figured the pure Android experience would be the way to go..

How are repairs on the Nexus phones? Is it possible to DIY?

Thanks for all of your thoughts on the matter, they helped me see things a little bit differently.
I finally received my Nexus. What a fantastic phone-- it's so fast, and the screen is great. Absolutely no regrets so far. Thanks again everyone for your input.

Most Nexus phones have fairly good end user repairability. Problem is all modern phones have fused LCDs digitizers and glass so it either ends up you'll have to replace the whole display/glass together or try not to damage things with a heat gun. Too cold and the glue will not separate, too hot and you've wreaked the LCD. I'm in the process of ordering parts to repair my Galaxy Nexus which has massive glass crackage, let you know how that goes.

Had my phone for 24 hours now. Love how great of an improvement it is from the S2. Should serve me well for the next two years.

Anyone else have issues with the notification light? It works for just about anything other than missed calls or voice mail. The phone does not alert me to missed calls or voice mail via the notification light. That's a pretty important one. I can know if I missed a text but not a phone call?

Software bug possibly? I was thinking about the LG G2 instead and now I'm thinking that might be an option since I've only had the Nexus 5 for a day or so. Tried rebooting enabling/disabling pulse light, etc.

Lot's of people have mentioned Light Flow but I really shouldn't need a third party app for the notification light to work for a missed call or voice mail.

Also get no voice mail notification at all. I can see missed call in the status bar after turning the phone on, but no idea I have voice mail after leaving several test voice mail messages. Anyone else?

After rebooting, the notification icon showed up for voice mail, but no notification light.

Dunno...so far not so impressed with notifications and this led.

Downloaded LightManager from the Play store. So far it's doing a nice job of at least telling me I've missed a call. As for the voice mail...well, I'll just have to check that on a missed call. Most likely just an update to KitKat needed to solve this I would imagine. I do suppose the Nexus 5 is still pretty new so there will be issues. Anyone else having these same issues?

Say more. I have an S2 and am considering upgrading, but am still on the fence.
