Not sure if the Sportsnet microphones don't pick up a lot of audience sound, it sounds pretty quiet in there.
Pretty awesome period by the Flames though. Lot's of chances, some decent hits, they're keeping the Canucks against the boards for the most part too.

Good first period. Great hustle leading to several good chances. Should have had a better fate. LOVED the hit by Wideman.
Let's keep this going for the hometown crowd boys!!!

Sure seemed like I heard Monahan's name a lot that period. The kid is pretty much the polar opposite of a player like Taylor Hall when it comes to hockey IQ. Looks like he's going to be a heck of a two-way player in the future.
I also like Russell's game........he can skate and pass well. Nothing too fancy, but he gets the job done.
The Butler/O'Brien combo scares me. Neither player looks very good out there.

They were a bit scrambly to start the game, but have really settled in. I really like David Jones. His motor never quits and he forechecks like a demon.
Good pickup.

And excellent down low pressure, as well as very, very good plays coming back in the defensive zone to break up plays. The last play near the end of the first there stopped almost a sure goal. The kid is here to stay. Wow.

1-1 after that is not too bad.
Tortorella had the Canucks well prepared for us, and MacDonald looked very shaky.
I hope it wont be too long until we see Berra get some starts.

Flames doing an nice job containing the sisters so far. Don't know if it's just youthful enthusiasm or what, but the compete level from this team is night and day from the last few seasons. Win or lose, these guys look like they're gonna be a fun team to watch this year.

Maybe a little bit, but he played the body quite a bit last year too. He seems more comfortable this season, playing with confidence.

Being better than an ECHL level team is not much of an accomplishment though.

Sportsnet - The home of save as much money as we can.
It's the home opener for the Flames and we have to listen to these Canucks clowns in the intermission. Fata them.

I'm worried about Gary Valk. He might have early onset Alzheimer's.
No, I'm being serious.
