Why do you think Martin St. Louis had to go somewhere else to make it in the N.H.L. and it did not happen in Calgary?

Feaster was talking about that they are in a position to package prospects up and not just future draft picks to acquire players... I wouldn't be opposed to packing Johnny Hockey and Horak or Max Reinhart to acquire some nice RW pieces or RHD

Hopefully he said that 3 seasons ago when they were still stuck in delusional-land.
As for Gaudreau, you just know trading him would come back to bite us in the ass.

To acquire some proven commodities haha. Max and Roman are both great and are stuck behind a pretty good log jam of Cs and when next yr is up, we lose butler-smith-stempy... We need to address Dman and RWs. JHonny hockey hasn't even played a game of pro and is still up in the air in terms of transitioning his small frame (but super skill) to the big leagues

Also it all depends if he (JH) signs out of college this yr... And if he can hack it next preseason... I didn't want to sound like I would ship him out tomorrow

They did?
Can you point out where this conversation can be found?

hmmm I do remember watching that vid...
give me a second.
edit: Can't find it but I do remember Feaster or Burke talking about them having a conversation about a player and one of Burke or Feaster saying they really like him and the other saying that they didn't. I am not thinking it's Sven at this point though.

I think Burke knows what he is doing, he probably likes Sven but Sven has to fit the type of team the Flames want to build. If everyone buys in this team can pull together and we can be a hard team to play against, but if we are only getting selective efforts it's def not going to work. Sven can progress into a very good player he has the talent, the skill but he has to play the team a game.

Burke's Management style was honestly harsh with the kid, and that didn't stop him from becoming what he is. Add that to the fact that he did that in a place like Toronto where the media, etc, is much worse than Calgary.
Baertchi does have too much optimism/pressure on him. He needs to work thru this. But i have no issue in taking a tough stance with these kids rather than coddling them.

This is has been a culture problem with the Flames for a long time, rarely have we taken a hard line stance with players who take nights off. I think this is a good way to see what your star player is made of.

Yeah, that's probably fair. Obviously Burke and Feaster wouldn't see eye-to-eye on every player, that's normal and natural but to suggest Feaster saw one guy as a building block, a cornerstone and Burke didn't, that just isn't something that was even hinted about if I recall correctly.
If this conversation took place it would have been posted and debated about ad nauseam on this forum.

Kadri is still a brutal defensive player. Nothing changed about that.
He was given a chance in a top 6 role and his offence finally exploded. Management and coaches can't ignore a young guy who played at a point per game pace after 40 games.
He is still brutal defensively, but his offence makes up for it. Like many star offensive players in this league (Stamkos, Kane, etc.)
Gaudreau is going to get absolutely torn apart by the fans of this team. When you start attacking the few bright spot this organization has, before you know it, there will be no bright spots.

I remeber the interview question well. You are correct, Feaster did not say "building block" or "cornerstone" when refering to the player. All he said that Burke asked him about one player and Feaster said he liked him. Burke's response was he did not like him. It could have been anybody on the roster or a prospect. Granted i doubt it was about a "meh" prospect.

I always wondered which player Feaster was referencing. I kinda thought it was Jankowski--and yes, I heard the convo as well.

That's a lie from Walter.
Feaster simply said that, trying to understand Burke a little better, that he mentioned a player that the organization liked (he didn't even say it was a Flames player, it could have been an undrafted prospect for all we know) and Burke said he didn't like him.
I'm not even sure if it was real conversation or Feaster just being Feaster.

Derzie about three quaters down at FlamesNation Made a comment very close to the comments your asking about, but I can't find the original article just yet.
Quote:
"Burke asked about a player and the Flames brass said "we like him a lot" to which Brian said "I don't".
