Super happy if he's hired as GM. The guy knows what he's doing. He was definitely given a raw deal with the new ownership in Toronto. If the Flames get him as President or GM, I'd be ecstatic.
Burke's big weakness seems to be media relations. If there's something I clearly like about Feasters work, it's that the Flames under him have developed a very friendly and accessible media presence, so this seems to be his strong side.
If they find a way to shuffle the chairs so that everybody feels like they're doing the job they want, this could work out well.

I was perfectly happy to have Sutter tell the media to go **** themselves.
I see no improvement when listening to Feaster pat himself on the back for things that he almost accomplished or will soon almost assuredly be accomplishing.
If anything, Feaster is an even bigger blowhard than Burke, it's just that Feaster has a big self-satisfied grin when he does it, and Burke has a big scowl.

While I think feaster has done an average job as gm I would love to see Burke here. Burke is a top notch Gm and if you can get him there's no reason to let Feaster call the shots,he can be Burkes puppet I'm fine with that

I actually kinda liked Sutters interviews too, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Feaster is surprisingly well liked under the circumstances IMO (no playoffs for years, stars leaving town, off-season acquisitions being mostly meh or busts. This says to me he's done a good job of handling the media.
But more importantly, there's been IMO a clear increase in human interest and behind-the-scenes stuff, a lot of success at selling the prospects to the fans and following their progress, that kind of stuff.
Should Burke be hired, he would do his own talking as always and propably get under the skin of some reporters as always. But with Feaster on board I think Burke wouldn't be the public face of the Flames organization as much as many GM's are, and I think that can only be a good thing.
Burke is a straight shooter and this organization needs that type of individual in a high position. We have too many yes men, too many guys that cater to what Edwards and king want to hear. Burke will have none of it, and he will leave if that's the case.
He also gives the team a identity like Darryl did. It will be good for everyone involved having a guy that's honest and brash. Not to mention his interactions with Eric Francis will be EPIC!

"Keep getting told the scope of new Flames Executive job is beyond just hockey...football and lacrosse too. Is BBurke the right pick?"
This better not be true. Give Burke full power in Hockey only.
I don't mind Burke, I just wish he would drop the whole loose tie look. It's terrible. Either tighten it up or take it off. Always looks like a cheap lawyer who just had 4 pints.

I would feel good about this simply because there is no alternative scenario that points to a positive. Does anyone really think that Feaster will bring the Flames out of the wilderness? At the very least there will be a strong personality at the top of an organization that needs direction.
Ideally, I'd like Burke to be in a GM-type role. The guy is too passionate to not meddle in hockey decisions, so might as well put him in a role where he can excel without stepping on toes. Even if he's meddling in the President role, at least he has a hockey background, unlike the current guy.
I do think Feaster/Weisbrod have been on an upward swing lately and have gathered some momentum. But they are still a bit of a wildcard...Burke is a proven builder of winning teams.
It's getting pretty tight up there though. Someone's gotta budge....whether it's today or in a few months, I doubt we'll see so many executives by next year. For me the odd guys out are Feaster or King...or both.
if i had my way i would have loved burke take over the flames the offseason before the phanuef deal.
he's better at taking a team that's at the cusp and making them better. Not sure his strength is in rebuilding a team from scratch, he's too impatient (see kessel deal).
not going to pretend i know what the president's role is on a team, so will reserve judgement on that, if that's what he's coming to do.
