Sieloff and Gillies sitting out of today's game vs the Finns:

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 31s USA sitting pretty much all their top players today. Kerdiles, Skjei, Sieloff, Barber, O'Regan, Gillies, Matteau all scratched.

Wonder if Jankowski's versatility will get him a bit of a longer look.

Seems that Sutter has been playing him at all three forward positions so far this tournament.

I see that as a possibility as well. The fact that he is floating around the lineup, and appears to be the only guy really doing so, may mean he's being looked at as that guy who is on the roster to fill in for injuries up front. His size and versatility may make him a perfect fit. I would be very happy if is what happens. Just the experience of being at that tournament will be an incredible development opportunity for him. Hope he makes it.

Would have been cool to see a Poirier-Monahan-Janko line...

Build up some pre training camp chemistry.

Seeing as Jankowski won't be there it is probably moot.

Hope they take McDavid and Reinhart.

These kids are good enough to be on the team, screw age.

1st period is done.

Monahan 1 SOG 4/5 FO
Monahan's line didn't get off to a good start had trouble maintaining possession in the first half of the period. Monahan did get 1 shift on the PK but none during the 5 on 3.

Janko 2 SOG
Jankowski had a strong first half but his TOI got cut down as Canada got into penalty trouble and Gauthier seems to be Sutter's go to guy on the PK.

Poirier 0 SOG
Poirier started coming alive after being put on a line with McDavid. Got a penalty on the PP after putting a Swedish player in a headlock after the whistle
