Toews is the second best forward in the NHL, IMO. He's a beauty.

Valo, all I know is I really hope the Flames get lucky with their 6th pick and draft a really skilled Stephane Yelle just like EE described.

I'm hoping for an exact replica of Stephane Yelle, as long his rookie year ends the same way.

To put things in perspective, Toews is 10 mo. older than Backlund.
4 playoffs ago he captained his team to the Stanley Cup with 29 pts in 22 games, as a 21 yr old, playing a complete 2 way game.

Due to the Senior PGA tournament on NBC this upcoming weekend, there will be no morning game this Saturday. Game five of this series will be on NBC in prime time at 1800h, 6:00 pm Mountain time. No need to listen to Bob Cole and Glenn Healy.

No ones comparing him to Backlund. Toews is a good player, no question, but I think some people make way to big a deal over the captaincy. He was chosen as captain when there really wasn't any other legit option and just happened to be the captain when they won their cup. Don't get me wrong, fully deserved the Conn Smythe, but personally, him being a captain at a young age means very little. Is Horcoff a great leader/player because he's captain? Gionta? Salvador? Jovanovski? Even Crosby being a captain is not a big deal for me. He's not any better a player just because he has a C on his jersey. He's the best in the game, regardless of being captain or not.

What?
Ladd, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, Byfuglien, Hossa, Bolland...
Yeah, there really wasn't anyone else.
He was chosen over all of those guys - at the age of 19 - because he is a special player and a born leader.

Those commercials with Toews and Kane are so horrible I want them to lose because of that.

Not to mention the fact that pretty much nobody has based their argument on the letter on his chest, but instead on his performance on the ice.

I can't watch games that happen in Detroit, their constant need for theme music throughout the game over the loud speakers is beyond annoying.

Finally a DET PP goal to give the Wings a 1-0 lead.
Add to that Toews is getting a tad too whiney for my liking lately. Just shut it and take yer lumps and battle through. Which is what you used to do.
And now another DET PP. Chicago is losing their cool.

Detroit fans campaign for more penalties than any other fan base. It's fataing annoying.

Wings with typical hometown reffing. Clear interference ignored and then Toews gets called right after that.

What a joke. You know you're playing at the Joe when... Detroit is allowed to clutch, grab, hold, and run interference all over the ice and never get called for it. Would be nice if they called it both ways.

That's three consecutive minors for Toews. He is getting frustrated but Detroit is getting some pretty cheap calls IMO.

That hit on Bickell was interference.
