Really torn on this one because i like the idea but if you like playing as a team that is in a rebuild (cough Flames cough) in real life and is losing more than they win, you are going to be screwed in the game because all of your players are seeing a drop.
Does this force everyone to just play as the blackhawk or penguins or whichever team is having a good season instead of the team of their choice.
argh........ i would have hoped that my offline beAgm/season play would have hot/cold players but based on how they are performing in my offline universe.
Does this mean that the real-life hot/cold will only impact online versus play?
Does this mean htere is no hot/cold for offline play?
The fact that edit lines and team rosters has hot/cold visibility, must be offline also, since these are offline menus, then does this mean a player on my team that is ripping it up in my offline universe will suddenly go cold due to how they are performing in real life??
Holy man do I ever hope that's optional. I'm assuming it'll come down like a tuner update? Some people might like it I suppose, but being a Flames fan the last few years have meant I play this game to get away from real life.
NHL 14 introduces Dynamic Ratings Updates for the first time to the series, which bases in-game updates on real-world NHL performance for "Play Now" and "Online Versus" modes*.
Sounds like it is only in play now and online versus modes. Also the * included at the bottom says..
Quote:
*Dynamic Ratings Updates will occur as and when made available. Online Connection Required
So really who knows how often it will be updated. I'm not worried about this feature as I don't really play those game modes.

I missed that. I don't play them either, so it's a bit of a non-factor for me it would seem. I know not everything has been announced, but so far this years offering is shaping up to be one of the least exciting in terms of new features. Gameplay wise I'm actually quite excited (like the video Joborule just posted), but the big tweaks do almost nothing for me.

Not surprising considering the team is more than likely they having some of their resource and priorities placed on working on the next gen build.
Improved Online Team Play (OTP) Flow
New for NHL14, the Online Team Play user flow has been streamlined and merged with the position select screen. Once matched up into a drop-in game session, users will see that they have been taken into a Side Select screen that now also shows positions that can be chosen.
Ohhhhh man do I ever love that they're mapping the chop to a button+direction. I can see that being a huge part of the game. I'm especially happy to see that close to the net they'll try to chop it in. I hate how you can poke a loose puck in, but it's easy to miss in this years game.

Considering it was momentarily a hype point for last year's game, I am just glad they didn't abandon it entirely.
Seems again like their rationale for these changes is "these are obvious problems that are a pain in the ass". Sort of like, oh, I don't know, a patch or an update to a regular game. A legitimate bug or problem that would not have necessarily been identified during testing, but was immediately problematic after release, necessitating a patch.
Anything new on the Be a GM front this year? More in depth out of game stuff hopefully?
