It feels like they are trying guys out from the farm, taking stock and understanding where we stand...

Well by the looks of it you will get a chance to see anyone else who has a pro contract come up and play for the Flames this season so don't stress too much.
How difficult do you think it is to manage the contracts? It's not like we just bring up anyone who is playing well in Abby.

I would rather this as a desperation move then trading Iginla for a bag of pucks like Phaneuf. Maybe they don't want to waste picks to get a fighter. A lot of people were angry when they used a 5th to get Lebond. I think they want to save all there picks for this draft since things aren't going the way they wanted.

How are calling up Aliu and trading Iginla two moves that get compared in any way?

This is the only thing i am thankful for in this short season. They have not traded picks and prospects to try and "band aid" up problems. That said, if this weekend goes bad i think that will be the next step.

It's not a straight forward comparison. I'm just making an example of a bad trade. From what I read in this thread people are saying this is a move that reeks of desperation. All I'm saying is that i'm glad the win now mode hasn't forced the organisation to hurt the future with a stupid trade (ex. Phaneuf trade). I'm glad that the organisation has traded or 3rd for example for a fighter.

Unless backlund is coming back, they've stretched the gaping centre hole wide open.

Centers? Where we're going, we don't need centers!

totally agree...desperation move.
If we are out of it by the mid season point, and still doing moves like this? Well, it would not surprise me in the least, but it would be a terrible decision moving forward.

We need a pest on this roster.
Players like:
Downie, Lappiere, Ott, Clutterbuck, Clowe etc are pretty valuable.
Not sure if Aliu can be that guy at the NHL level but hes defintley done so in the past.
Hes a big guy at 6'3 and 220 pounds so it'll help in the size department for sure.

Not even close. Alui will be an agitator that will probably get 4-5 minutes a game. Clowe, Downie, Ott, and Clutterbuck happen to be great pests/agitators than can still be counted on to put up decent offensive numbers. Aliu will be extremly lucky to be on par or slightly below a Daniel Carcillo type player.

The Flames are trying desperatly to make Horak a regular, but from what I have seen he plays very soft, and while he is skilled he is not skilled enough to be an NHL player right now. Also he did start off the season in Abby on fire, I think he had 10 goals in the first 14 games. But only 3 or 4 in the 30 some.

Its honestly so bizarre that I almost think we're pulling an Edmonton "lose on purpose" here.... if so, and Feaster is pulling a fast one on KK/owners... I'm a little impressed how he is slyly pulling this off.

Not sure what YOU offer with the posts you put out there- It's like you don't know anything and are proud of it. You don't think he adds toughness and grit ? actually, I don't even care to hear your answer, I know it's gonna be out there and something I can't stand.

Not to wear rose colored glasses here, but, in the 2 games he got last year- he scored 2 goals and 1 asst to my memory- not bad... some players turn it up a notch when in different environments and the impression I get from him is that he wants to be in the NHL and being under that, in the minors, he might not play as motivated.

Both fluke goals, didn't one go in off his ass? I don't care either way about this move its not going to change the Flames fortunes bringing up a plug that has troubles staying relevant in Abby.
