When you ride your horses the way Calgary has with Kipper and Iggy, eventually those horses give out...
Calgary had zero succession planning, and we will have to deal with it as a franchise.

Yes I was just thinking the same thing as I read your post. I suppose I can't blame ownership for meddling and then on the other hand say that they should've prevented Sutter for making those bad trades. You definitely have me there.
The new NHL confused him. And in that confusion he made a lot of mistakes. I think he learned from those mistakes and he's applying what he learned to his new job as coach of the King. All he ever really had to do is stick with what he knew which was hard-nosed hard-working hockey.

People need to realize that this "rebuild" is going to take awhile. Sutter crippled this franchise when he was GM.

King or Feaster may be saying it...but the rebuild has started. Playing Comeau lots of minutes, a player whose best days are obviously behind him. Goaltending is a cluster*^#% at best. I am a huge Iggy fan...I believe Iggy is the classiest player in the league. If he is so happy here in Calgary, why has he not signed a contract extension? What is he waiting for? I hope he is going to either sign an extension or ask to be traded. If Iggy Moves to another team as a Free agent, and the Flames walk away with nothing in return....I will have a very hard time continuing to be a huge Iggy fan.
I also believe that if Iggy is traded, he will not pull a Tkachuk and return to the Flames...once he is gone ...he is gone.

That is an especially apt analogy considering the town. And I couldn't agree more.
We sucked every penny's worth out of those two contracts and how they're essentially worthless.

I completely agree, until the point where your GM goes off the rails and is about to do major harm to the organization. That is where you do your job, step in, and make changes. So either management was surfing and didn't notice when Sutter pulled the Dion trade, or they endorsed it with their silence.

Oddly enough the reason he is good at his job is the same reason that people are calling for his head - he is visible... does anyone remember who the President of the Calgary Flames was before? Who the President of 28 of the other clubs are (the only one I know is Lowe in Edmonton)... I don't have a clue.

In my opinion leadership starts at the top. And I don't want leaders to accept mediocrity. I know they say the right things but it ends there. He's a salesman of course he says the right things. I personally think KK is more involved in hockey ops than u do, largely as Murray Edwards messenger/policeman. Again if I ever own a team I can run it my way and Edwards has that right now. Just like Jerry Jones does. My rights are as consumer.

How the hell can Some of you rag on Iginla tonight?
He had 8 shots on goal, made the play to set up Brodie's goal, set up Cammallerri all alone in front, and was the most physical player we had!?!?!?!?
The coach challenged the team and our Team Captain was an absolute stud tonight. He showed up to play.
If you want to crap all over Iginla, do it somewhere else because coming here tonight after his effort out there shows nothing but ignorance and bias.

Hartley Did well coaching a terrific team in Colorado. It was built by a very very good general manager. In Atlanta he didn't have that kind of success despite having some pretty talented players on his team. His odds are pretty grim in Calgary.
His system is very fun to watch but it does require enormous amounts of skill to pull off and commitment to playing both ends of the ice because of the risks that are taken. And that seems to be a real big problem for the flames right now

Who is ragging on Iggy for his play tonight? He was good, but need to see more of that from him. It wouldn't hurt if his line mates start to resemble NHL players as well.

I guess all I'm saying is that I find it hard to be mad. I was part of the "in sutter we trust" crowd and man did we get burned.
Feaster is doing the best he can, and he needs to ice some semblance of a hockey team out there. St. Louis, Chicago, Pitt, were GARBAGE for years and years before they got their crap together.
Calgary's biggest problem is thinking they were a contender the last three years and not selling at the deadline and reloading. But if you look at the last two years of drafting, I can't think of the last time I was this excited about our prospect pool. Maybe they won't pan out, but I think there could be some really exciting players there. Sutter literally wasted first round draft picks.

Highest paid player on the team, team leader and supposed to be the best player (he no longer is) and he didn't score when he had 2 or 3 good chances. He's not Curtis Glencross where you give him a gold star for a good effort, he's Jarome effing Iginla.

Ya, I know we'll never find out what really happened behind closed doors there, and I still believe Phaneuf needed to be traded but I can't believe that was the best return Sutter could have got for him at that time.
If he came to me with that trade, I would have told him to come back with better.
