He's a unique, entertaining commentator. Every single one of us, as Flames fan, love Kerr, even though we won't say it.

But I will. He's been MUCH better this season, and I just really enjoy listening to him now.

I don't mind the extended raised voice and excited calls with 1-2 minutes left in a tight game but when he does it with six minutes left and then proceeds to call the rest of the game the same way it becomes a little much to me.

I am beginning to accept the fact he is the Flames PBP guy.

He hasn't gotten much better, he was fine all along. People in general hate change, and CP loves to winge about pbp guys, so it's a recipe for dissatisfaction.

Exact same thing as with Loubardias

AT least with Peter you can play the drinking game consistently.....with Kerr I have no idea what kind of verbal diarrhea is going to come out.

I personally thought he was really good last night, and I have ragged on him in the past. I like the fact he is a bit of a goof and also like the fact he brings a little humour (both intentionally and unintentionally) to the booth, god knows we won't be getting any from Simmer.

Rob Kerr is the play by play guy for the Flames on Sportsnet. He is a little geeky at times, he loves his job, is getting better at it, is not perfect, and has a job than 99%+ of the people on this board could never do.

Why do people bother mentioning this in here? All we do is constantly criticize NHL players on CP, and it's a safe guarantee that 99% of us could never keep up with even the George Parros's of the league.

What bugs me about Kerr's play by play is that he almost sounds too excited. Even on nothing plays his voice gets so excited that if you weren't paying attention you may think that a game winning goal was scored when in fact nothing more than a dump in happened.
Part of this may be due to the poor production quality of Sportsnet. After watching an NBC broadcast game in the afternoon, watching the Flames game felt like I was watching a game from 20 years ago. Pretty embarrassing for a national broadcaster.

Nothing personal, I actually agree he's a solid radio host.

Compared to other sports I watch and even other NHL broadcasts the whole thing is second rate.
This pretty much sums it up for me. He is an alright broadcaster, but just not for this level. I see him calling WHL games on the local shaw channel.

I thought I'd never forgive him for butchering Sven's first NHL goal call, but I've actually started to warm up to him. That said, much preferred Loubo; hindsight is 20-20, wish I would have appreciated him more when he was around.

He's still as terrible as the first day. He gives me a heart attack anytime the Flames score or get a good chance.

This isn't a yelling contest Kerr, you can call a goal without screaming at the top of your lungs.

I actually quite like Kerr as a play-by-play guy. But I'm not as picky as most.

Oh, and before the goal last night he got way ahead of himself on an attempted clear by the Stars and said something to the effect of "and the Stars get a chance coming out of the penalty box" when we had actually kept the puck in and there was no chance for the Stars.

He's always assuming things instead of calling the play like it happens.

He is what I expect from a Homer broadcast, which is what SN West is. He is rough around the edges, but brings an everyman wonder to the broadcast. The Snowballing in Denver was enough to make me a fan of this guy.
