There was a 46 there this evening.

Pulled the trigger on an authentic tonight. I needed another jersey like a hole in the head.

lol, no kidding. Stay Golden - why not call your Flames rep and tell them you are willing to pay twice what you are now, just so you can get a single game free?

Let's break down what the Leafs and Flames are doing.

The Leafs are giving 20,000 fans the first game free at a cost of about $2 million. So 20,000 people who can afford Leafs tickets get a slight break on an already cheaper season of hockey.

The Flames offers do the following:
- Save STHs and regular fans a bunch of money of Flames gear. My STH buddy had been eyeing my pro jersey, and is now going to pull the trigger. So we will save more than if we were leafs STHs.
- Give the Fanattic employees who have had their hours cut a whole bunch of extra shifts due to being super busy.
- Give the Saddledome cossesion staff and business owners more business to kick start the year. My buddy who ownes one of the non-Flames run consessions is pumped about this. He said it's going to be great for him and his staff; especially after he had to lay people off and take a side job himself.
- The charities that sell 50/50 will also benefit. Not only for the first 2 games, but this has a trickle down effect. After the World Juniors where we saw pots reaching $120K, the following Flames game had a pot over $70K. And the best part of this, the Flames likely won't have to kick in a single penny to bring the pot up to $100k.

So for about 10% of what the Leafs are spending, the Flames are having a much broader reach with their offers. They are getting people excited about hockey, and helping the people hurt the most by the lockout. Because let's face it; as much as I missed the NHL, I never had to tell my son that we could no longer afford the brand name Kraft dinner.

Which consession? I would be glad to support him over the Flames run consessions.

You do understand how 50/50 works right?

Fans should phone and say they are willing to pay what Sens fans pay. Their promotion is even better than the Flames one.

I loved hearing Rollie Cyr talk on the fan about pent up demand for Flames jerseys and Flames apparel. I honestly had no idea Rollie that there was a lockout on Flames gear as well. Cause that would be the only way to explain the supposed pent up demand.

To the best of my knowledge the Flames offer is the following:

1) 50% off Flames merchandise;
2) Potentially topping off a 50/50 so that it reaches 50K for the charity and 50K for the winner;
3) Half priced food

Almost positive I would take the Sens offer over that one. How much are their ticket prices Resolute?

Just to let you guys all know. I wanted to get my jersey customised, so I called River City Sports in town, and told them how much discount the Fanatic store where offering.

The guy on the phone told me they would match the deal.

I took my jersey in tonight to River City Sports, and the guy honoured our agreement, I paid $36 to get my jersey name and numbered!

Thought I would share this with you all.

It is pretty clear that they could have offered a full season free and you'd just whine that you didnt get two.

The Flames offer is superior to the Leafs for most of our ticket holders. I'll save way more than the cost of one ticket. I neither know nor care what the Sens are doing.

I verified his IP address was registered to calgarystampede.com

That being said, we also got a warning via email from the Flames today that due to events at the Stampede grounds parking would be limited. So it could be anything from them knowing parking will sell out quickly if its free, or the fact that something else is going on which will impact the available parking.

The source is Tapestar, the poster, who presumably works for the Stampede Board judging by the content of his post.

Most of the ones with company names are owned independant from the Flames. The ones that I know of for sure are Pizza 73, Mini Donuts, Pocket Dawg, and Good Earth. I tried to support these ones as much as possible during the lockout when I was there for Hitmen games. We even made a point of turning mini donuts into a game day ritual with my boys.

Pro tip- the mini donut place also sells alcoholic beverages too.
