Nonis' biggest fault was quality depth
the biggest chance between Gillis/Nonis Canucks teams is the bottom 6 forwards and bottom 3 D
If he's learned from that though, he's a very solid GM
Burke had the Sedin trade, but Nonis did the rest for this current Canucks group

No complete clause.
Would be in his contract that if they kept a retainer he could not go out and find another job.

Man, CP crapped the bed for me for a few minutes there and I was worried something else horrible had happened.

It's still bizarre to me why they would so urgently fire him. It's not for any one "specific" reason, so why decide to do it right now, a few days before the season begins, and pull him off of an airplane to do it? Besides everything else, it seems extremely unprofessional.
The guy says there's "no good time to do this". Maybe not, but there are definitely better and worse times, and pulling someone off of an airplane out of the blue after going out to dinner and a hockey game with him the night before doesn't seem like a better time.

I suspect its only about saving face. They have to pay him anyways Im guessing. I would bet Burke never deals with Toronto Maple Leafs again.

I don't buy their reasoning. If you don't think he's your guy you don't wait until the season just gets back on track to shuffle the deck as it's counterproductive. This was due to a disagreement and it likely involved a trade with Vancouver.

The way they looked at each other when the Luongo quesiton was asked, it certainly looks like Luongo was a factor.

In NYC all Larry Tanenbaum would say is "this was the decision of the Board."

Correct. 3 days until Saturday.
