I wonder what happens to Koevermans, his contract is up I think in a couple of months. Clearly not dp material anymore with his health and age but would he accept a hugely reduced wage to stay? Maybe retirement time.

I think he's gone. There is talk going around that one of the DPs TFC is looking to sign won't join them until january which would make sense with Koevermans contract expiring.

Since i will be in Seattle for the Real Salt Lake match on Sept 13th i was wondering if any of you who have been to Sounders matches have any suggestions on where to sit and where to go before the game as ive heard there is a lot going on pre match in Pioneer square and around the Stadium.

This link is accurate for pre match activities and "march to the match".

Arrive 60-90 minutes before start time if you want to get seats at any of the bars on Occidental which get packed early.

The Elysian is kitty corner from the CLink and a nice spot to take it all in with a wide beer selection. You can watch/hear Soundwave, the Sousa band supporter group, peform as well as watch ECS march in on Occidental right from your table.

As for tix, you'll have to probably get them on the secondary market, but it's worth it to sit (stand) in the lower bowl closer to the supporter sections on the south end.

If that isn't possible, they're opening up the full stadium for that match so sections 309 to 312ish are in the middle beyond the dripline so it is comfortable and dry yet very close to the action.

Sounders use NFL security measures so it can be a slow go through the metal detectors and pat downs. I use the north east entrance by King Street train station which is less busy. Also the north side of the CLink has a lot of family/kid related activies before game time if that is your thing.

Welcome and enjoy the Age of Demsey

Thanks for the info. I went to a game about 3 years ago there right at midfield but behind the supporters section looked more fun for sure. Got KK sect 122 for 25 bucks a ticket so hopefully not too high. Might take your suggestion for Elysians as well. I know right where it is having been to a couple Seahawks games as well and will be attending the Niners game that weekend as well.

And being a Tottenham supporter it will be interesting to see Dempsey in person.

That's cheaper than my work tix. Depending on how large the tifo is for the match, you may have just volunteered yourself. I think you'll be roughly in Sigi's bowtie in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ9DCBae8NI

Toronto FC sign Max Urruti out of Argentina. They've been persuing him for most of 2013 and it's been a bit of a nightmare

Hopefully he was worth the 6 months of work to get this guy on the team... what a saga.

This article alludes to the big name signings of the league, and the questionable process.

I couldn't get past this piece of brilliance within it though:
Quote:
Dempsey's return legitimizes the league in a way that David's sideshow never could. He is a sublimely talented player who could have had his pick of teams in England or Europe but has chosen to return to the league that gave him his start - in a World Cup year, no less.
LOL. Dempsey gets pushed out by Tottenham, yet suddenly has first pick of any team, while downplaying Beckham who carried his club to two consecutive championships?

What a muppet.

Goddamn Flounders!

Good match, it could have been 3-3 at the half, to be honest. We'll get 'em next time.

^^ Rosales subbing in and Gspurning with the clean sheet was the difference b/w very equal sides.

Valeri is very good and unlucky while Kah is channeling San Jose's style and very lucky.

Here is a 2 minute video to describe the awesomeness of last night. I even got to meet and thank a skinny Drew Carey.

TFC part ways with Kevin Payne 9 months after he was hired. The turnover NEVER ENDS!

^^^Chivas North. Leiweke has a record of success but some moves have already raised eyebrows. From firing Payne yet forcing a new GM to keep Nelsen doesn't make sense.

Also, retrofitting BMO for the Argos would destroy an already fragile season ticket base. I know the Skydome is a horrible venue but wouldn't Varsity Stadium with all its warts work out better a la Molson Stadium than destroying a wonderful soccer only facility like BMO?

Ya I can't believe this crap with the argos keeps coming up, the Argos back out not once but twice and almost killed the stadium project entirely and have done nothing but grumble about how they were excluded from BMO since. The argument that they have an entitlement to play there because it was partially funded with tax dollars is a joke. Lots of tax payer funded projects have specific uses... they had a chance to be involved there and ####ed it up.

Even worse is this new american blowhard Leiweke practically inviting them in. If you read the red patch and usector forum reactions its obvious it would completely decimate their season ticket base. It's like MLSE want them to fail they've managed the team so poorly.

Wow, Timbers vs. Toronto was pretty close until Diego Valeri was subbed in.

After that, domination.

Tfc's already bad roster is decimated. Vancouver suffered a crippling loss tonight, looks like the Impact might be carrying the Canadian torch into the playoffs alone.

Whitecaps blew their game tied 1-1 going into the late 80's and then let 2 goals in losing 3-1 on the road in Dallas. The third goal being a long strike from just over half

Portland and Toronto trade forwards. Max Urruti to The Timbers for Bright Dike (Dee-kay).

LINK

Dike was a fan favorite, played for Notre Dame, and recently broke in to the Nigerian national squad. He tore his ACL in preseason play, but is healthy enough to have made the 18 this weekend.

Dike is a wrecking ball of a forward, but after seeing the quality that "Trencito" Valencia displayed, it was apparent that Dike may be on the move.

What's up with Urruti? Rumor has it that he hasn't impressed in training. I'm sure fellow Argentinian (and new DP) Diego Valeri bent the ear of the Timbers brass regarding Urruti. Hopefully they'll be able to find some chemistry.

TFC continues the clown show, even without KP.

So after chasing Urruti for the better part of a year, with a long drawn out transfer saga, he plays 15 mins as a red, and they trade him.

Bright Dike, Portland's 1st, transfer money, and an international spot.

My mind is literally blown.

Apparently Urruti was Payne's guy. And Nelson never wanted him.

So they scouted Urruti for 2+ years, and kept him with the team for 25 days, and he played 15 mins.

From what I've heard as well, sounds like some TFC supporters groups are folding.
