There is statistical evidence of this happening already in canada.

Now banning late term abortions does nothing to prevent this as you can do an amnio at 12 weeks and determine sex

No abortions after the 2nd trimester. If you don't want the kid, we have institutions in place to help find the baby a good home. But a late-term abortion is probably going to be VERY hard for you to come back from, and you may never be the same person. So please, make the decision early, or let us help a loving family have a child".

It seems like a pipe dream that anyone would ever be that reasonable, however.
I agree with you here that it would be better done by the pm but that would be political sucide even this back bencher study vote certainly is hurting the conservative image. All because people cant grow up and have a rational discussion on abortion.

For me no abortions after a fetus is viable would be a reasonable point to draw the line.

All that article shows is that Indians aren't the biggest fans of girls. That's a cultural thing, and not something that can really be remedied by a law. Nor is it anything new; it's been documented in the past that Indian mothers will literally let their daughters starve to death. (Obviously not all of them, but more than you'd like to believe)

So once again, we're left with what is essentially a small number of tragic occurrences each year that are likely the result of pure thoughtlessness and a lack of empathy more than anything else.

Leave the abortion laws alone. I think we can all agree that nobody ever WANTS to have one. The fact remains, it is a necessary evil of a modern first world society. And if you want to reduce the number of abortions, the way you don't do it is by guilt-tripping, saying Jesus doesn't like it, or other nonsense. It requires the sort of enlightenment that I don't believe many people on either side of the argument possess at this point, and until both sides have a measure of it, we're gonna keep spinning our tires with nonsense like this.

For the record, this statement is (in the best case scenario) misleading.

Unless you believe women have a Todd Akin style "bun in the oven" alarm which sounds at the moment of conception.

Unless it's legit rape, the alarm gets put on snooze.
