Should the Flames take a flyer on him? He's gone undrafted the last couple of seasons, will be get picked this time around?

I think an invite to the rookie camp if he goes undrafted again would be pretty likely.

I had similar questions for Hitmen fans on Greg Chase. He looks like a decent playmaker, but I don't know about the rest of his game.

Has anybody read anything or have heard anything of how the top few guys in this draft (MacKinnon, Jones, etc.) compare with Hall, Yakupov, Seguin, Hopkins, etc.?
Thanks

Mackinnon has been on the radar of NHL fans for 3 years now, which is much longer than most 1st Overall picks. The last 1st overall pick that was anticipated for so long was Tavares. Most top 5 talents only immerge in the year before they are drafted, like Drouin. Jones is a bit more of a late bloomer than Mackinnon, who has had scouts watching his every move for the past 3 years.
It's pretty difficult to compare guys from different draft years. All projections I have seen so far have Mackinnon as a top line forward and Jones as a top pairing defenseman, that being said:
In my personal opinion Mackinnon in junior plays a similar game to Crosby. Really strong on the puck, fast, and offensively dominating. Not saying he is as good as Crosby, but he plays a lot like him. If I had to pick one of the prospects you mentioned to compare him to, it would be Seguin. He is nothing like Yakupov or Hall, and is different from RNH (not as good vision, but stronger on the puck).
It is pretty tough to find a comparable to Seth Jones, he is really athletic and strong from what I've seen (in less viewings than Mackinnon). He doesn't dominate a game like Mackinnon, but he has been improving at a faster rate this season. I'd throw Pietrangelo out there as a comparable, but Jones might be more athletic with less offensive touch. Another comparison I have heard for Jones is Tyler Myers (from Portland's coach).
Both players definitely benefit from being on powerhouse teams as well. The Mooseheads have one of the best groups of forwards in the CHL, and the same could be said about Portland's blueline...

I would take any of the top 4 this year over Hall or Yakupov.

Hard to say but it seems that they are definitely considered better prospects than Yakupov and likely on the level of Hall/Seguin. I would say probably a little better than RNH as well.

Man, I want the Flames to get their 2nd rounder back from Montreal. That could turn out to be like a late 1st rounder.

We need to have a firesale for first round picks, even the late firsts are going to be good this year. Players jumping all over the map from top 10 to top 40 and vice versa, way too much talent out there just staring us in the face.
We want 5 1sts Feaster!! Make it happen

The Flames have to stay above the cap floor. As much as people may like, you can't trade everyone for picks. You need enough players to play in the NHL and AHL.
I call it EA Sports syndrome.

In reality though we're just about at the contract limit and if we traded wingers, kipper and a dman we have logjams in these areas already, not to mention I'm sure you would get some players back, NHL or ahl

Maybe they can. I can see a player such as Stempniak get us an 2nd rounder at the deadline.

With 3 assists tonight, Drouin extends his point streak to 22 games.
He has 89 points in 41 games.

I think he'd be hard to pass up at number 1. If he was a centre, he'd be a lock.

I had Drouin at three, which is the lowest I've seen him on most rankings.

Even the team picking 4th will be very, very happy in this draft. Seems almost unfair that not all of Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin and Barkov can be top 3 picks ... in any other recent draft class, they'd be a lock.
Could be a really good draft for the Q this year. MacKinnon and Drouin in the top 3 or 4; Mantha, Gauthier and Erne will be top 20 picks; Zykov, Fucale and Duclair probably in the top 30, maybe others too. Maybe memory serves me wrong, but I can't remember that many first rounders out of the Q in recent years.
EDIT: I was right - 1st rounders out of the Q:
2008 - none
2009 - four (#14 Kulikov, #25 Caron, #27 Paradis, #30 Despres)
2010 - one (#13 Gormley)
2011 - five (#3 Huberdeau, #8 Couturier, #17 Beaulieu, #26 Danault, #30 Phillips)
2012 - one (#13 Grigorenko)
