I get very irritated when people use "stoked" or "pumped" to express their excitement.

Also, don't call me buddy, guy or boss.

"Chell" to describe the latest NHL game in the EA Sports Franchise.

And thank god "GlenX" died. Anyone who uses that term deserves to be burned with the heat of 1000 suns.

"Hubby"

As in overweight, short haired, poorly kept, post menopausal women saying "my hubby and I ate the whole wedding cake this weekend!"

Random and epic are two that I would like to go away. I want to punch myself in the face when I find myself saying them.

What's wrong with random? What would you use instead? Epic I can see, as it's way over used for mundane events. I just don't get random.

Agree to disagree,

It can make a moderators life easy, but I'd rather you arrange a time and fist fight each other until the other person has to give in.

Yeah mind-bottling. You know, when things are so crazy it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle?

You know what makes me want to punch people in the face? When people say they want to punch themselves or others in the face because they never do it!

We should just abandon the English language. Obviously, the language is beyond reclamation and we should all give French or Mandarin or German a go.

But then we'll just find words in those languages to abhor. Either way, you can't win.

"wow, just wow"

Ugh, if you meant just wow, you could have just left it at "wow".

Random bothers me because not everything is random, just like not everything is epic.

I said I want to punch myself in the face, not that I would. That would just be stupidity.

Yeah, I'm with you on random. Particularly, when used as 'Wow, we both ordered the same drink? That's so random!'
The 'so' part makes it particularly bad. Randomness can't be measured in degrees. Something is either random or it isn't. Usually it isn't. There are lots of fields where randomness is a legitimate topic of discussion, from science to mathematics to games of chance, but the trend of young people using 'random' as a synonym for unexpected or unlikely is really unfortunate. In some ways, it's the new 'karma' or 'ironic'.

There is such a thing as "stratified random" when groups are separated based on particular attributes and then random samples are collected from the groups, so technically there are degrees of randomness.

I will be very impressed though if one day I hear a teenager say; "OMG, that is like so stratified random!".

Transplant99 is by far the worst offender for this. He uses that almost every time he disagrees with someone. It's hilarious.

Similar to "wow, just wow"....

I can't stand it when someone has to start with; "Ummmm" when they are typing out a response. Even if it is not directed toward me, that extra bit of snarkiness is irritating.
