I really want to know why Rockstar is incapable of making good looking road textures. I hope that's the PS3 version.

Game looks unreal. Can't wait.

One thing I'd love to see but won't: Rockstar dropping the insane online component to the trophies and achievements.

Giant, massive, stinkin', ginormous nerd alert: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=531982
This guy took the official statement from Rockstar saying that the GTAV map would be larger than GTA IV, SA, and Red Dead combined and measured the three to estimate the size of GTAV.
Pretty interesting findings. He explains his methodology, but in a nutshell he figures that it'd take ~30:00 real time minutes to run from one side of the map to the other.

Ya I recall one of the magazine reviewers, when showed the demo, claimed it took the guy roughly 6-8min (can't remember the exact time) to fly across the map. Actually I hear one of the reasons why the map is so big is to have lots of room for flying, as there's supposed to be a lot of it in V.
EDIT: Found the quote, The Guardian with Houser:
Quote:
And space is important, space is a big issue. Some have already questioned why GTA V needs to be so huge. But Houser bats the concerns right back. "We wanted to make a big place, as much as anything, to allow you to fly," he laughs. "A lot of the decisions, we're talking about them here on a philosophical level, but they're also practical decisions, too: we're making a game. You have to understand the medium. On an obvious level we wanted somewhere big so you can fly properly – we have a lot of missions that involve flying, in helicopters or whatever, it was logical. Also, Jet skis work better around LA than they would in New York.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything...

Ya that seemed to be the general consensus about IV (among other things), which R* clearly has heard, and could even be seen in Gay Tony. Although of course that was strictly helicopters, which will not be the case this time. I also heard there's an army base in the desert, a la San Andreas, so it's probably extra room for military fighter jets too. The skybox for flying is supposed to be very tall in V, so tons of room.
I personally loved the flying in SA, very glad it's back. But to each their own.

I like the concept of having the freedom to fly anywhere and everywhere, its just that the mechanics for flying in GTA games has always been beyond my comprehension. Whenever I come across a mission where flying anything is involved I cringe because I know I'm going to be spending a few days hoping I get lucky enough to get past it. This is especially true whenever you have to fight in and with a chopper. It took me a solid week to get through the Mike Toreno missions in SA.
Yet, in the newest Saints Row, I have no trouble flying. Now, the game is designed to be a bit more arcadey but I actually love to fly around the city and blow stuff up in that game.
Hopefully they have refined the controls/mechanics in much the same way they seemed to have overhauled everything else.

I had no problem whatsoever flying in GTA SA or IV. The only difficult thing to fly was the Stunt Plane because it's so finicky. All the other aircraft were easy to handle for me.
I can't wait to see how many different kinds of aircraft there are in GTAV. My favourite was the Hydra by far.

The only flying I've had a problem with was with the rc planes, but beyond that it's something I really miss. I used to love heading back to my original hideout in the projects using a harrier.

How many cities are in V? Or is it just 1 city with outlying areas?

Ya just sounds like Los Santos and its massive surrounding rural areas, and lots of little towns like SA had, just more developed obviously. No-one's really sure though. R* seemed to go out of its way to shoot down rumours that San Fierro and Las Venturas would be back, so I wouldn't count on that. I've heard rumours of a smaller, re-imagined San Diego, or even Yuma, Arizona. It's all just speculation though.
As far as official info, its just L.S. But I wouldn't put anything past R*, with how secretive they are pre-release. They could surprise us, especially after this delay.

I always kinda hoped there'd be at least 2 major centres with a long air plane ride between the 2 to create a distinct game experience for each. But Los Santos is my 2nd favourite GTA city behind Vice so I can't complain

Ya I agree, on both counts. If it's just LS I'll still be happy, my main concern before the setting was announced was having large rural areas like SA to play around in. But every time I keep looking at those screenshots of large highways going out of town, I keep thinking they must be leading somewhere major.
I wouldn't be shocked at all if they're hiding a 2nd (albeit smaller) city from us.
