So... not sure if this should go in General automotive thread or Vehicular Geekery thread. But here goes.
I'm thinking that after the winter, I'm gonna have a little fun and get a late 80s - early 90s MR2.
Just wondering if anyone of you CPers have ever driven one... I've heard it be described as a road legal go-kart.
I used to drive a late eighties normally aspirated MR2 - bought new by by parents. Probably the most fun to drive car I've driven. It was pretty easy to have your enthusiasm exceed your talent level in that car particularly in the winter.
We sold it in the early 90's so not sure what it would be like to drive - but I loved that car.
I drive a 2009 Cayman S now and would have to say that the MR2 gave me more giggles per mile.
Looks like a lot of places won't do that if I bring the parts in(probably can't mark up their parts)
I think it's more of a liability issue. If you kill someone because you run into them when your brakes fail, insurance and legal investigations could easily go back to the shop. If they supply the parts, they know exactly what went into your car. If an individual is supplying parts, there's no telling if they're counterfeit, meet Canadian code, etc.
Thanks to a Utah convenience store's contest, Frito-Lay truck driver David Dopp won another set of wheels last Saturday: this lime-green, 631-hp Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640, worth at least $200,000. Such an awesome car that will...oops, he already wrecked it.
my truck had been running sort of sluggish/rough/miss-firing for the last while so i took it into my mechanic yesterday. i got my truck back today - wow!!! what a difference!!!
this is what got installed:
- new idle air control
- new ignition coil
- new holley high performance throttle body injectors
- 8 new spark plugs (the holley throttle body recommended a better grade of plug)
the power my truck now has is crazy from what i'm used to. i wanted to just pin it but the roads were damp and the temp was hovering around zero and the last thing i want to do is hit some ice and crash my truck
oh well - i guess i'll just have to wait until it warms up!!

And I just bought these from Tire Rack yesterday...
I'm so stoked. It's a great time of year to buy a convertible sports car. This is a 2005 Mustang GT, completely loaded with the Shaker 1000 stereo and leather. It has a 5-speed manual. This was also owned by a middle-aged woman for 99% of its life so it hasn't been bagged on, but the wheels have been curbed about 50 times, hence the new rims.

I changed my car and the view from my office is one shot! Yep they are beautiful cars. I am finding it hard to keep my foot out of it... and I have to adjust to just how fast it is. Somehow it always seems like I am way over the speed limit without trying... but I am getting used to it.
I also have felt some of 4x4's classic rage... it feels like everyone is in my way!

Yeah they have a very high fun:value ratio. They feel like an old school muscle car with just enough modern touches to make them comfortable. They sound great, too.
Are you planning any mods? I went crazy with my last Mustang, but this one I'm going to keep basically stock. I may lower it slightly and the springs should stiffen it up on corners and prevent the nose from diving when braking, which these cars are notorious for. That'll probably be it, though. Mine is a convertible so it has to be comfortable for my wife to drive with the kids in the back. If it was just mine I would do the exhaust.
Bought some new rims for the summer, and with Easter being over they'll be going on asap. However, I'll be going up to our favourite city north on the QE2, so do I dare mount them on and risk my car sitting up on cinder blocks?
