Wish they had given Pat the Flames game host role instead of Bryn, at least Steinberg can carry on a fairly well-informed discussion about hockey and doesn't make me want to tear my hair out. Honestly, how Mike, Pat or really anyone handles Bryn's outright idiocy is impossible to understand - I tried listening to the post-game the other night following the Hawks game and had to turn it off.

Just hoping we see a TSN Radio station opening up in Calgary sooner than later...I miss my sports radio and the Fan is clearly not improving anytime soon with this latest hiring.

I gave it one more chance earlier this week. Bryn was doing a phone interview with Friedmen from CBC. The first question he asked Friedmen had to do with Gretzky and the MLSE sale. Bryn couldn't remember what MLSE stood for, and it caused a painfully awkward moment, followed by about 30 seconds of stumbling and mumbling as he forced the rest of the question out.

He's an awful broadcaster and is running the station into the ground.

It's one thing not to like a radio personality for their opinions, but this is something completely different.

When Bryn was sick at the start of the season, both Steinberg and Boomer filled in for the Pre and Post game show and both were much better and more professional than what Bryn brings to the Flames broadcasts.

He's over-chummy and informal, awkward, under-informed, and brings absolutely no insight or perspective to the discussion. And try to suffer through him doing the out of town scoreboard. Yeesh. He interrupts himself, forgets to mention both teams that are playing, and loses his train of thought.

Maybe it's just red light fever but he really seems a bit slow upstairs.

I emailed Kirsch just to see what he has to say.

I feel a bit bad for Bryn. Pat was in his face the minute he arrived. I like Pat, but he can't be the primary host for the drive home. His rambling and inability to complete a sentence his painful. Listening to Pat is like listening to the drive through lady in 'Dude, Where's My Car?" And then, and then, and then. THERE IS NO AND THEN. Just finish your stupid sentence already!!!! He needs someone there to control him. When he has that he is great.

To me it sounds like Pat has went out of his way to be antagonistic. You didn't get the job. Get over it.

Until that stops I don't think you can fairly evaluate Bryn. Either Pat backs off or he gets put on another segment. Once that happens if Bryn keeps up the idiocy then get rid of him. But for now its pretty tough not to look like an idiot when Pat goes out of his way to make sure you do.

Bryn has a decent voice but he seems more suited to to something like a rock FM station or maybe reading the news rather than discussing sports.

I think he meant to say listened.

Pat is a great guy. The guy listens to bs callers during Overtime and everyone's repetitive comments regarding the Flames and their frustrations, but he treats all the callers with respect and gives them a chance to vent.

I hated Kerr, always thought he knew everything about hockey and would cut off callers and not let them say their piece, if he seemed to disagree and he looks like the nerd kid that we used to steal Pogs from by using a metal kinney instead of a plastic one in elementary.

Listening to Bryn right now.
Painful.
He takes 10 minutes to get to his point, if he had one.
Secondly, he seems to be trying too hard to ingratiate himself with the Calgary listener.
Bryn is a very nice guy but IMO he just doesn't seem comfortable.
He won't last if he can't show improvement.

Has a point don't he? I read these posts about people listening to such a bad product and the point is they are still tuning in. HUH? I would occasionally tune into Mike Richards as he could be funny. Otherwise why on earth would you listen to this bush league station?

I don't get it. If you are listening then hey you are supporting the crap they put on the radio.

You've apparantly missed how most people are suggesting that they won't continue to listen.

LOL.
Hey Walker, I know a few people, myself, who gave you guys a chance after Richards left and the morning show was in transition. It didn't take long for the morning show to become mostly unbearable and the radio station to get switched. You guys are lucky TSN doesn't have a station in town yet. I guess you can be cocky considering you're the only gig in town.

People who weren't 'sports nuts' occasionally tuned in to Richards in the morning...his ratings were at times pretty high in the overall market. I would be very surprised if those casual listeners are tuning in @ all to 960 now.

I caught some of Jim Rome's substitute host the other day, Fan960 should try to snag whoever that was for the morning show, I actually found it entertaining, in a sort of juvenile Mike Richards-esque kind of way.

Had the afternoon show on for a little while yesterday while driving to pick up kid at daycare. The afternoon show is terrible. Bryn is clueless and Steinberg is just annoying. Quickly turned back to xm92. Never again!

I think we would be lucky to get Jay Mohr or the Sklar Bros to even come to do a couple shows in Calgary. And I'm pretty sure Petros and Money won't leave their afternoon show in LA to do a morning gig in Calgary.

EDIT: I am pretty sure tom segura is coming to calgary next week tho

Oh.. that was Jay Mohr? Yeah, I guess we won't be getting him to host the morning show in Calgary.

I suppose everybody at the Fan could just prepare a bit more. Maybe Richards had the luxury of only doing the morning show and focusing pretty much just on that. The Fan has just cheaped out so much that everybody is all over the place.
