Just made the Canes pick in the other thread. Didn't realize we started already until this morning. Being in Carolina with hurricane Irene and the time change, I'm surprised I remembered to check this late. Btw I took Nik Backstrom (the centre) for those too lazy to check the other thread.

I was going to take him but I couldn't figure out if he was a franchise player or not. Hes got amazing skill but I think his stats are inflated playing with Ovie. Nash was a for sure franchise player.

Ya, I'd take Thornton over Backstrom... he's undervalued on this forum, IMO.

Yeah it was between Kopitar and Thornton for me. Took the Age advantage and I think Kopitar is going to be fricken amazing.

It was between Backstrom & Thornton for me once Getzlaf was taken. I choseBackstrom because he's significantly younger, a little cheaper, and yet to reach his prime. Having watched him the last two years out East I also know that he's the real deal. If this was a 1 year deal, I would have taken Thornton.

Good points... I was lucky with the 3rd pick, Toews is good either for a win-now mode or a win over the next 15 years or so
