Just got offered Season Tickets in the Whites ...to answer the expected questions, I joined the hot house just prior to the 2009/10 season -- summer 2009 -- 3 years from ~#700 on the list. 700 to 475 to 225 to being offered.
Now a question...has anyone ever turned down an offer for Whites to wait for Orange or Greens? What happens? Do you maintain your spot in the wait list?
Thanks!

The scoop is this...
you won't lose your spot on the waitlist if you decline the season ticket offer as long as you continue to be a hothouse ticket holder.
however, very few season tickets in the greens are ever offered to hothouse members due to their (price) popularity. they are usually claimed during the seat relocation period.
if you had already committed to game packs as a HH member, you can direct those dollars to season tickets.
bottomline...I have now committed to the whites for the upcoming season and will try to relocate later....hopefully, my tickets won't end up across the aisle from the greens

One thing I hate about the whole "Hot House" thing: I currently have a game pack and have had it for almost 10 years now. I don't want to upgrade to seasons tickets, had them in the past and the cost and commitment are both just a bit too steep, but really want to get a second game pack. The problem is, to get one I have to join the "Hot House" and pay those yearly fees on top of my current game pack fees.
I really wish there was some kind of internal wait list for current game pack holders, I don't mind waiting, hell I'm even willing to wait longer then those paying for hot house, but it really sucks to have to pay for the hh "membership" on top of paying for game pack tickets.

Check the CP buy/sell forum. It should be easy to build your own 'game pack' from the many season ticket holders that sell off seats here. No waiting, no fees!

True enough, and I do nab tickets off there from time to time, it's just kinda nice to have the actual pack. You get a bit of a discount off face value (though you often do on the B/S forum as well) and also sit in the same seats every game which I really like...it's almost like having real seasons tickets but only for a portion of the season.
Edit: And they come in cool little books too, making you feel even more like a ST holder.

just got my email offering me season tickets (for the first time, was very excited by the prospect of getting them last summer) - I declined them due to my general displeasure with the team's management and inability to address the problems that face this team on the ice.
...just thought I'd share.

Did you decline them and take your name off the Hot House waiting list, or did you say you didn't want them this year and would be able to get them next year?
The first time I was offered seats they were in the whites and I was allowed to decline them and wait for greens.

What exactly has changed from last season to this season? If anything, we are much better this season than last.
What were you excited about last summer that changed and made you displeased this summer?

Wasn't much option wise - it was either Yes I want them this season, or no I don't want them this season, and then it mentioned that hot house renewals will be done in August.

Are you going to renew your Hot House membership and keep your spot in line?

After a 3rd consecutive year out of the playoffs, I no longer believe the team is capable of pulling together and playing up to their perceived potential (as well as that due to the age of key players, that ceiling is lower than it has been).
My pure dislike for two members of the team also weigh in on it - I said some time ago that I wouldn't buy season tickets if Matt Stajan and Jay Bouwmeester were on the team because in my eyes they embody what's wrong with this team (bloated salaries that aren't capable of bringing their compete levels up to where they need to be).
I'll still watch as many games as I can, but I'll "vote with my dollars" this season and not spend a dime on Calgary Flames merchandise, because for as much lip service as Feaster/management/ownership has given to the fact that they're not happy with where they are, they aren't/haven't been unwilling to make the bold, hard decisions to address the problems (I view not selling off assets at the two previous trade deadlines as Feaster's failure to act, when action was required).
Every summer people go back and forth on what it takes to win the Stanley Cup with only on constant conclusion - elite, top-end depth at the center ice position. It's not easy to acquire, but it needs to be viewed as the foundation of a team in order to have success and the Flames/management continue to fail to address it.

Let us know when the team is good enough to cheer for again!
Partly kidding.

I'll still be cheering for them, as I mention in my post.
I love that the user Fubar called me a bandwagoner via PM and some other jibberish.
I'll always be a Flames, but as a frustrated fan - passing on a years worth of season tickets is the only avenue I have to show that frustration.
So, Fubar - thank you for the oh so kindly worded PM. I'm sure we'll all get to know, and appreciate you during your time on CP.

I received an offer for third level seats today...It has become apparent that the flames have basically removed the first three rows from the hothouse and replaced it with all the higher rows. These basically were easy to get 'while you wait' seats, which I had no interest in.
I wrote the flames telling them I was disappointed that the wait list has changed since I first signed up, and asked if they would let me switch to the 2nd level list and keep my priority, the agreed. I had asked if I could do this earlier and they refused, so a decent compromise by the flames...

All in good fun from me. I should have said mostly kidding.
As a fan, refusing to buy tickets, jerseys, consumables, etc. is the one of the only effective ways to show displeasure. I don't agree with what you are displeased about, but I agree on how you are going about it.
I don't think people should just blindly follow a team, and throw money at them, without giving it some thought. If that's all people did, the owners would get richer and the product on the field/ice would get worse. I think bandwagoners (I'm not calling you one) can be good for the game, because if the fans only go when the product is good, maybe the owners will do a better job at putting a better product on the ice/field. This in turn should make them more money, from jersey, beer and ticket sales. The Detroit Lions are a good example of this. The Cleveland Browns are a good (bad?) example of blindly following a team.

Ever consider that maybe they are the scarcest, and some of the most desirable seats in the dome? They are cheap with a good view, and people don't give them up that often. After 10 years of sitting in those seats, I can tell you turn over on them is very low.
Seems to me the Flames haven't changed anything, they are simply offering you something similar because what you want isn't avaiable.

I agree with B_B_S here, and if it makes you feel any better, no seats from the first 3 rows were made available for relocation by people who have seats in the "higher" part of the 3rd level this year.
