Still gladly cheer for the Stampeders.

I have cheered when favorite players have left before and Burris isn't even my favorite player on the team.

Just because I defend him from the crap that "fans" of the team say about him doesn't mean that I am some fan boy or like him over the Stampeders.

If he goes to Toronto I will be disappointed that the Stamps lose one of their top players now and of the past 5 years but understand that it makes little sense for a player of Burris' ability to be on the bench, both for him and the Stamps.

I certainly am not looking forward to the Tate era but changes need to be made with this team because they should have had a cakewalk to the Cup but instead they have been very mediocre (and certainly not because of Burris).

As for Cornish being the full time back that scares me a bit as well. He is great at breaking off the 10+ yard run but I sure don't want to count on him to get one or two tough yards when needed.

Burris is a tough one.

The guy is insanely gifted. It was said that when he was with Green bay that they had the best 2 arms in the NFL. (Farve\Burris) You hate to see a guy like that move on because he is too talented to just fade away, he will inevitably make an impact wherever he goes.

The guys head is his problem. He isn't nearly as cerebral as Calvillo, but 5 times as talented. He often makes terrible reads and forces things that arent there. He can't just pick it up and be an impact, he needs momentum and confidence.

When he is on, man is he good. But too often he isn't and that is a problem right now.

Lets see what Tate can do.

Yeah, without Reynolds they don't have a guy who can pound it on key downs; not Cornish or Coker, and while Cote's a good special teams player and a decent blocker, he's rarely been used in that sort of scenario.

Cornish has been able to convert the short yardage conversion easily.

Lewis has made several comments all year after they have lost games. Early on in the season it had to do with players not practicing hard enough and its come all the way to Friday night's comments on how he doesn't care who the QB is.

That to me says there have been issues with Nik and Henry all year. If Nik supported Henry we wouldn't have said what he did on Friday night.

As for the change, they have nothing to lose at this point. They are going to finish 3rd, they have invested in this backup QB, you might as well see what he can do, if he plays well, he leads you in the playoffs. If not, you go back to Burris and see what happens. Regardless, I think Drew Tate is the starting QB of the Stamps next season. Burris will be an Argo.

Ida know, I kind of like the youthful movement of the team right now. Tate, Forzani, Cornish. Don't get me wrong, Burris, Rambo and Reynolds were great, but age catches up way too quickly in football, and what was great one year can be gone the next. Burris to TO? Possibly, but I hesitate to give Suitor any credit for coming up with the idea, as the man's about as swift as a blocked kick. (Sorry, his continued use of the phrase "YAC yards" gives me raging fits). It'll be tough on the pride and the ego, but hopefully Burris can store up that fire, and if needed, prove us all wrong.

Will Barker have a job past November?

Cornish was back at practice this morning:

AllenCameronCH On the upside, Canadian of the week RB Jon Cornish is back practising today #calstampeders #CFL

And he was named Canadian of the Week again:

I expect to save his job he will go into Braley's office with a plan to have Burris and Fantuz on the team. I'm sure having Barker would make things more comforable for Burris. The league isn't really full of competent GM and head coaches because if you can Barker you are starting all over again for the 3rd time in 4 years.

Pretty happy that Burris seems to be on his way out.

Immensely talented QB, but makes horrible decisions, and seems to cave under pressure (menatl and physical).

I never thought we'd win a Cup with Burris as QB, but thankfully he did just enough (and avoided the big blunders) to actually win one.

Looking forward to seeing what Tate can do. Hopefully Dickenson and Hufnagel are patient with him, as it usually takes some time for an inexperienced QB to find his way.....just look at Lulay in BC.

Barker is a good GM but terrible coach. He should just keep the GM job and hire someone else as a coach.

That's a possibility as well.

More changes from Stamps practice.

Linebacker Juwan Simpson, the reigning West Division defensive player of the year, will still be a starter on Friday night against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but it won’t be at his accustomed spot in the middle; instead, he’ll be shifted to the weak-side linebacker spot formerly occupied by Malik Jackson, and for the past couple of games by Daren Stone, and Robert McCune will take his place in the middle.

I think in fairness to both the Stamps and Burris they need to party ways. Clearly this relationship isn't working. Like others have said he's just too talented to fade away, but, for whatever reason, it's not working here.

I dont think things will be too tough around these parts tho, as I've been saying for a year now that Drew Tate is the next star of the CFL

Burris needs to move on from Cgy. Very gifted, nice guy. Brutal under pressure.

- Despite countless tries, the Toronto Argonauts were never able to obtain Dave Dickenson to serve as their quarterback but a source (yes, a reliable source, of course) tells me he's atop their wish list to replace Jim Barker next year as head coach. Owner Dave Braley always has liked Dickenson, who used to be his QB with the Lions. And Dickenson has paid his dues in the coaching ranks as the offensive co-ordinator for the Calgary Stampeders. . .

I wonder if Dickenson as head-coach would make Toronto more or less appealing for Burris (assuming that it's true that Toronto plans to make a push for him in the offseason). On the one hand, the two are definitely familiar with one another, but it often feels like they aren't really on the same page about how the offense should work. That said, I could actually see Dickenson making a better head-coach than offensive coordinator.

If Dickenson gets a full year with Tate as QB I think the opposite might be true. Dickenson's ideal offence requires a QB who can actually make a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th read when making passes and not someone who simply leverages their superior athletic abilities.

EDIT: If you want to see how a professional offence is run go to Tsn.ca video on demand and watch the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter of last Friday night's game. Passes were thrown into holes in zone coverage, accurately and in a place where only a reciever can catch them. Audibles were made effectively on the line scrimmage. The ball was thrown away out of harm's way when the play called wasn't there.
