It was going at like 6.5 megabytes per second when I walked out the door. 20% of the 3.8GB in two minutes. Crazy fast.

If anyone is not going to use their bf3 closed beta code, I'll happily buy it off you!

The differences are much more apparent when you see the PC version and the PS3 version side by side.

Was able to play a bit, I might begin to regret my purchase..

Game seems great, but it's similar to more recent BF games where I can't see crap. I can almost never see someone before they shoot me. I know that's the whole point of camouflage but it makes the game very frustrating.

Pretty much the reason I stopped playing the latest Bad Company multiplayer.

EDIT: Oh and things seemed to run fine with pretty high settings on my 460 GTX

so you can't rebind mouse controls, this really sucks. i don't know if this is an oversite that they'll fix in beta or if it'll stay this way until release. having to redo my entire control scheme just to play makes things a little difficult

Can't you rebind with your mouse software?

Yeah, it's a little difficult now, but in alpha, the spotting was ridiculous:

They'll be tuning it.

I like the spotting feature - I'd rather they change it so that the foliage breaks down with fire so they become exposed.

sure, if i set my mouse buttons to act as keyboard buttons. but having to change back and fourth every time i start or quit the game would be really annoying. and that doesn't help for certain actions that are binded to mouse buttons by default (attack, zoom) that you can't rebind at all

it seems like a very broken design and hopefully since this is the first day, it'll be something that gets fixed

that's why i always preferred the hardcore servers for BC2. no triangle dunce caps over your head making for an easy target

Is it the camo or do they actually disappear at range?

No, it's just I can't see the body for the clutter and colours and shapes of all the other stuff around. Then I see a muzzle flash and I'm dead.

My edge detection algorithm in my brain isn't up to the task for BF games.

EDIT: Or I might just need to grin and bear it and it'll get better as I learn the game and the maps.

I found the larger the monitor the easier it is, fiddling with the brightness can help sometimes. When I play on my 17" laptop I struggle to see people, not so much on the 24" desktop monitor.

Could it be slight colour blindness? I know I used to have trouble differentiating the wall from the road in some old school racing games due to very slight colour blindness. I would think the road continued straight.

I have trouble differentiating greys and pale greens.

Maybe, or not necessarily colour blindness (because I've never seen a colour blindness test/image that I couldn't see) but maybe contrast issues?

I do have poorer night vision.

beta impressions are pretty bad. key bindings are a total mess, terrain clipping issues are terrible, and i can't play for more than 5 minutes before being disconnected from the server. i think i'm gonna sit this out and just wait for retail, too frustrating to enjoy right now

Disconnection wouldn't be so bad if you didn't lose your progress when you get disconnected.

Every rank I think I've done twice lol.

And yeah bad clipping issues, I think I got killed by someone under the ground once too.

Getting a bit better but still get killed by guys I never saw, I think sometimes they just sit there and fire down common lines where people walk in the subway.

Clipping is certainly my biggest issue.

But the game runs pretty damn well on ultra for me, and I haven't even updated to the BF3 drivers.

that's because it's not ultra. the beta is locked at medium graphics settings
