I'd say just go on youtube and do random searches of "ambient", "trance", "chill-out" music.
That's were I find really good electronic music. To me there is no one "band" that's good. A group could be really bad but they may make this one song that's fantastic.
For example, I while ago I ran into this song "LTG Bukem - Watercolors"; does this song make me go to sleep or what!
Also, search for "A State of Trance", Aarmin Van Buuren plays a lot of random trance songs in that radio show.
Ever since going to Watergate in Berlin I've been really into the techno/minimal scene Germany is so into.
And one from Paul Kalkbrenner who actually outsells Lady Gaga in Germany but isn't known at all over here.
If you are really into the minimal scene I would highly recommend watching a couple documentaries about Richie Hawtin. He was a pioneer of Detroit techno and his "Minus" themed parties have really taken off in Europe.
I've watched these 3 documentaries and I've gained so much insight into the world of minimal techno and just how much of an influence Richie was/is on the scene. And he's Canadian to boot! I highly recommend you download these and watch them.
And Paul Kalkbrenner is an awesome DJ! He did the essential mix a couple months ago and blew me away.

Paul Kalkbrenner also starred in this movie. I'm sure you've seen "It's all gone Pete Tong". This is a german movie (subtititled) that is similar except I found it to be much more realistic. Paul really plays the role well.
