Russel is at his best when his back is against the wall. With Redemption Island twist, he wasn't 100 percent in danger. I have no doubt Russel will dig himself out of this hole, get back in the game, align with the chicks, find an idol and get back to dominating.
I think they gave him misinformation just to mess with him... maybe piss him off more than anything. Kind of a final haha moment for them.. but the thing is, it isn't final. At least not yet.
I have a lot of confidence in Russel on Redemption Island. The guy has always been good at immunity challenges.
I think the reason they threw the challenge now is they just wanted to get him out of the way early, then build momentum going into the merge.
It would get harder and harder to get rid of him the longer he stays.. and god forbid he makes the merge to work his magic on everyone.
I think it was a good idea to vote him out first, but not to throw the challenge. I really hope Russel gets to come back, big fan of him on the show he keeps it so interesting.

A: Russell was looking hard (and may have had the Idol for all they knew).
B: The earlier you send him to Redemption Island the less likely it is that he returns to the game and even if he does return to the game he'll have been cut off from the social game.
C: I think they rightly figured that even if they entered the merge with numbers Russell and his girls would just become a third (Kingmaker) voting bloc rather then remain the weak sister in a Tribal lines bloc.
I expect Russell to survive at least a few duels just on his experience playing Survivor games but I wouldn't bet money on him getting to finale night.
They haven't announced when the redeemed person re-enters the game have they?
There's only 2 logical places, 1 is at the merge, 2 is into the final 4.
Throwing the game might have been incredibly stupid, Russell's tribe is not only split, but they're not physically awesome.
The best scenario is for Russell to return from following the merger to act as the swing vote.
I wouldn't bet against Russell in the challenges, the guy is fueled by survivor.
I read somewhere, I think it was on the Entertainment Weekly website, that the guy thought there would be 2 times when someone comes in, one either at the merge or right before it, and one later in the game
This might actually work in Russels favour, time away from camp means he cant piss off and back stab everyone. If he comes back at the merge and plays a key role dominating challenges or whatever, he will have a lot better shot at the money in the end than he has in previous years.

I have a funny feeling that Russel will only have to win once or twice at redemption island to get back in. I imagine once the merge rolls around they will ditch the redemption island gimick.
Was doing some math.... there is 18 contestants and they usually merge at 10 ppl, so its possible that they would have a total of 10 goto redemption island as 2 would get back in making it 10, Its likely that the winner of match 5 and match 10 would be the people getting back in. Which means Russel would need 3 wins on RI.
In all reality im not a big fan of RI as it takes away from other aspects of the show because it is only a 1 Hr show. There has really been limited airtime showing them actually surviving on the land and eating what they find in the forest around them.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the producers put him back into the game if he beats Matt in next week’s duel. They love him because he is entertaining and brings ratings. They didn’t announce when they’re bringing them back because they don’t know themselves either. They will change it on the fly depending on who they want back

I wasn't a fan of redemption island either until Russel got voted out. If he was going home right now I probably would stop watching this season...
However, it did seem to take away from the show since they have to spend 1/4 of the time doing the challenge and what not. So hopefully it doesn't stick around for too long.

I think we will see one Redemption Island flip back just before the merge...and one flip back around day 33, 34 or so...should be fun.
I'm guessing one at the merge and one at final 3 where the winner of the final duel (Fire Building Maybe) punches their ticket to the live show winner vote.
I think they will ditch redemption island at the merge. Its a gimmick and I dont see them keeping up with it once the real game starts after the merge. Redemption Island was more than likely just a ploy for producers to get Rob or Russel back in the game if they suffered an early exit. I highly doubt there will be people coming back from redemption island as late as the final 3 or 4.

At the start of the last episode, I said to my wife: "Redemption island just sounds like an easy way to keep Russell around, since no one is going to want to keep him there. Let Russell win the challenges at redemption island and then throw him back into the mix at or after the merge. Instant drama."
I think they'll bring the person back from redemption twice. Once when they do the tribe mixup as they've been doing in recent seasons, then once again at the merge.
I have a feeling the Russell vs Fabio 2.0 duel tonight will be something more physical than last week's challenge. Maybe some kinda of relay endurance challenge.
It just showed them making one of those dominoes type lines that we have seen in past challenges going up and down boards.

Watch this video.. I like how Rob keeps looking at Russel while talking about RI and coming back into the game..
Could be a spoiler but... doubt it since they aired it on CBS.

I dont know, it doesnt seem like the duel arena is very big. I suppose they could use the surrounding area as well but I would imagine its just cutup versions of 3-part challenges from other seasons.
