Really deep at center in the AHL now. Plenty of righties too.
Shore - Arnold - Grant - Hamilton is a nice group down the middle for sure. One of Hamilton or Grant may move to the wing though as both have scored 20 in the league before. Or Hamilton could be their version of Matt Stajan.

Now Granlund has been assigned. Not sure if it's long term or not, but if he suits up for the Heat the center depth is even more crazy now.

Also, Raymond and Byron waived. Not sure if either will be assigned if they clear.

Indications from a Steinberg tweet that Raymond and Byron may actually get assigned to Stockton. Good lord what a lot of bodies that will be.

P. Byron - Granlund - Shore
Raymond - B Arnold - Poirier
Agostino - D Grant - Hathaway
VBrabant - Hamilton - Carroll

That leaves out:

ELC - Klimchuk (20)
ELC - Smith (20)
ELC - Elson (23)
AHL - Lomberg (20)
AHL - Heard (23)
AHL - Kirkpatrick (25)
AHL - Riley (29)
AHL - Orr (33)
ATO - Hunt (27)

Holy frack.

A. Johnson - Morrison
Wotherspoon - Nakladal
P Sieloff - Kylington

ELC - Kanzig (20)
AHL - Stevenson (25)

Injured - Culkin

Arnold will be going up... They need to give him his shot in a contract year... Signing Johnny becomes a whole lot easier if Arnold makes the team (He's much better than Granlund IMHO)

Assuming one of Byron or Raymond gets sent down...

Granlund - Shore - Poirier
Byr/Ray - Arnold - Hathaway
Klimchuk - Hamilton - Carroll
Agostino - Grant - Smith
BVB - Elson - Riley

(plus half a dozen other guys)

that's a pretty potent lineup

and the entire top 6 can take a regular shift in the NHL right now, as can Agostino and Hamilton

We can't wait for it here in Stockton. We've had such bad hockey for 8 out ten years and still show support. Can't wait for a hopeful powerhouse.

Flames First Heat game Saturday

Looking forward to our first Heat game Saturday. Don't know much about Rockford, but last year they were pretty potent.

Is Gillis the real deal as a goalie? He didn't play in pre-season.

Other wise these guys look big, fast with skills. Any suggestions on who to watch for?

Agostino was the fastest guy on the ice the other night.

Up front, Poirier, Klimchuk, Granlund, and Arnold are the best guys, but there are other quality forwards like Agostino and Hathaway that are decent. Assuming that they stay in the A all year, I would expect those 6 to be the top scorers on the team.

Oliver Kylington is awesome offensively but can be a bit of a mess on his own side of the puck (he is improving though)

The Flames have a ton of depth at all positions, and Gillies is a really good prospect, one of the top 5 goalie prospects in the NHL.

This team should be a good AHL team, despite not having much veteran leadership.

Holy frack.

The addition of Orr, Johnson, Hunt and Riley should help with a veteran presence.

Hunt has played a lot of games in Stockton and has been the leader here for a long time. Great heart. Not sure how much he'll play with all of the other options, but can help with getting around town.

It's acceptable to wear the parent club's jersey to a game right? I am going to the Heat vs Reign game in LA in November, and I don't exactly have a Heat jersey.

Gillies is a stud, but he's a rookie. He might take a while to adjust to the pro level of play and schedule. But yes, definitely the real deal, to many he's the leading candidate to be our future NHL starter.

The most skilled guys on the team are probably:

C Markus Granlund
C Bill Arnold
C Drew Shore
W Emile Poirier
W Kenny Agostino
W Morgan Klimchuk
D Brett Kulak (currently in Calgary)
D Ryan Culkin (currently injured)
D Oliver Kylington (18-year-old)

The physically punishing / energy guys would be
D Pat Sieloff
D Keegan Kanzig
W Garnet Hathaway
W/C Turner Elson
W Ryan Lomberg
W Austin Caroll
W Bryce Van Brabant
W Hunter Smith

And that leaves
D Tyler Wotherspoon
D Jakub Nakladal
D Kenney Morrison

who play simple games but effective ones.

Aaron Johnson has been named Stockton's first ever team captain. Turner Elson, Garnet Hathaway and Blair Riley will be alternate captains.
