The city will somehow screw that up.
I love how people in North America (Canada mainly) just feel like drinking in public is going to have the world go to ####.

It doesnt seem like that has really stopped many people before. I would always see people with beer out and about in Edworthy or Bowness Parks having picnics. I guess the question is going to be if you're having a picnic and your kids are there, will they allow that or are they going to have some kind of 18+ only areas of the park, that would suck.

Thought this was a pertinent article once again outlining the disaster that is our municipal government.

Peter Bowal, the chair of that committee and a law professor in the business and environment area at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, says he doesn’t recommend any sane Calgarian to volunteer “to be used as window dressing” and then “cannon fodder” the way he and his committee were in 2017.
“I wouldn’t recommend anyone to donate their time and effort on that committee because I don’t think it would make any difference,

Here's Bowal's article on the recommendations and how they were treated by council:

Now I see why he has support in his riding!
This is stuff that I agree on.

I love that, "Won't somebody please think of the children" is actually one of the options.

I added comments indicating all park space should be included, not just picnic sites. But yes, the wording is troubling and narrowly focused.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it, mostly due to litter concerns, but this is a good point.

I am pretty sure the invention of beer cozies was for this very reason. Yeah, insulates your cold drinks. Ha!

As someone who lives in the Beltline, I only see upside. Meth and Opioid adicts are already everywhere and parks are already considered safe injection sites. Might as well open it up to drunks and alcohol as well.

Why wouldn’t it be okay? Having a beer or a glass of wine shouldn’t be an issue. Getting smashed and urinating on park stuff is still illegal, and should be. But open container should be just fine.

“F350 driving cavemen” is somewhat specific - probably a reference to someone else’s comment somewhere. Without knowing that original comment, can’t comment.

Yes, that is exactly what he is suggesting - probably to someone or something specific. That's the entire point of the sentence. What a weird question.

He's right though. Not all Albertans are that type. But some might be.
Not every Eastern Canadian is a creep or bum either. But some might be.

Sean Chu gave the weirdest sound bite I have ever heard from him regarding cyclists and the "Idaho Stop" maneuver. I can't find it online though. If anybody can post it - it is just bizarre - along the lines of "we're not in Idaho" and "people should wear sumo suits and not go outside".
