Cross country skiing. That thing you have to do when you didn’t carry enough speed to glide back to the chair lift. My wife mentions wanting to try it occasionally, and I remind her as we’re huffing away “This is what you want to do for extended periods?!” and she’s says “Nope!”
1. Different Skis and yes, it makes a big difference.
2. Cross Country skiing sucks. Lets drive to the middle of nowhere and glide about in the wilderness like chumps!
Cross Country skiers are like the cyclists of the snow. Just a menace to society.
I'll maintain my outdoor wilderness pursuits to my strong points which consist of a considerable fire in the Lodge and a glass of nice Whiskey, Bourbon or Brandy, maybe even a nice cigar.
Snow: wonderful and beautiful to look at just so long as you're stuck out in it, covered by it and someone else is shoveling it.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
If we were in WFH times, I'd be all down for this snow.
But I gotta go places. And park places. And two cars already slid into the back of mine last week alone. Something out of my control obviously, but still sucks for me having to sort that mess out now.

Just.. just stop already.
The snow is just a pain in the ass. Normally I dont mind so much but this year seems like its just been worse.
My neighbourhood has a pandemic, it is infested with dog walkers who walk their dogs at seemingly all hours of the day or night so no matter when I manage to get to the public sidewalk its all pounded down to a hard crust.
And then the feckless bastards call the City because the sidewalk isnt clear! Yeah well the only thing thats going to clear that sidewalk now is a goddamned grenade you crusty old bastards! Get a job and walk your dog at reasonable hours!

Thinking of buying a battery operated snow blower. The snow will probably stop as soon as I get it.
I hate battery powered yard tools like snowblowers, leaf blowers, lawnmowers etc. I know people like them but those batteries just don't last long, your battery will need replacement soon with modest use.
It's usually cheaper longer term with a gas power model and your good to go right away. People will leave the machine in the garage in -20 weather, go to start it when they need it and find out the battery is dead and needs charging.
Nah, I have a gas blower and a battery one. The battery one is fine for most things, and it’s much quieter. When we get a lot of snow, the gas one handles it better, but I’ve thought about selling it because the battery one is fine.
And you just pop the battery in the charger, and it’s good to go. I don’t think I’ve ever ru out.

Never had a single issue with battery powered stuff other than occasionally not being powerful enough. 95% of the time it's ideal. Never had to replace a battery like curves suggests. Bonus points for being incredibly lightweight

I got a show shovel one that has the same battery as my battery mower and trimmer and blower. Works quite well, I would say make sure and get one that has vanes on the front to redirect the snow, that's ended up being pretty handy.
I haven't had any issues with battery degradation for as long as I've had the mower and stuff and easily lasts long enough to clear the driveway multiple times.
Possibly the only thing could be the size, the one I got is 12" wide and to me it seems fine, but there are wider ones available for larger areas all the way up to full snow blowers. But the shovel style is enough for what I needed.
Reviews I saw before buying seemed to say that some of the ones with lower voltage batteries can have some issues so I avoided the 20-24V ones, though some still did ok in reviews.. I guess check reviews for the exact model as most common brands seem to have a range of models with different batteries and such.

The brand matters when it comes to battery powered yard tools. My buddy has bought some Yardworks stuff a few years back. I am mostly still gas, but have some Milwaukee. It’s great.
My buddy has ditched his Yardworks and is on Milwaukee as well.
