Yup. Pospisil and a 2nd and a 4th might have gotten it done. Not sure I would have bothered.

Personally for me I'd rather have Zegras instead of Frost/Farabee

But I also believe Zegras has his flaws and not sure he really would want to be in Calgary.

What happens when you sell low. Personally I'd have given Zegras next year since he seemed to have an okay end to last season.

I have a feeling Anaheim values Poehling though, they wanted a big 3rd line C I think.

Absolutely wild how big the fall off with Zegras was though. He looked like a future franchise player 3 years ago. Philly has a great group of young forwards. Let's see if they can manage to not be horrible.
And he's best friends with Drysdale

Not the type of player I believe the current GM would be interested in.

Thankfully

I don't think Zegras would have played in the CDN market, he's very anti-canada/pro MAGA from what I've heard.

Zegras has to be one of the worst NHL cover athletes ever, no?

Philly fleeced Anaheim here imo.

Phillys going to see they can’t rely on him as a first liner, which inevitably he’ll be put on. On a team like the Panthers or alike where he wouldn’t be the first or even fourth option, he’d be just fine. But on a team where you expect him to carry the play shift after shift, meh. Good luck to them.

His two way play was looking a lot better towards the end of the season. It would have been wise to see him play under a HOF coach rather than the scrubs he was given.

Obviously teams were not lining up to take a run at Zegras.

Should be telling us something.

I will let you know after this season now that they have had time to settle in.

That's a pretty meh price for Zegras skillset. Anaheim I would assume just wanted to dump the player who wanted out. Didn't Philly and Anaheim do a bit of business last year with Sanderson and Gauthier? Not Sanderson, Drysdale. I get those two mixed up.

Hoping both teams get better with this deal. Hopefully leading to less competition at the bottom for the Flames.

I forgot about that.

Cutter Gauthier
2024-Jan-08 Traded from Philadelphia Flyers to Anaheim Ducks for Jamie Drysdale and round 2 pick in the 2025 draft

Trevor Zegras
2025-Jun-23 Traded from Anaheim Ducks to Philadelphia Flyers for Ryan Poehling, 2025 round 2 pick (45) and round 4 pick in the 2026 draft

So if combined, cancelling out the round 2 picks (since they're in the same draft):

Zegras, Drysdale, and 2026 4th round pick for Gauthier and Poehling

It's not that bad. Still slightly favors Philly.

I think this is addition by subtraction for the Ducks.

Sure, it will sting for Anaheim fans when he shows up in highlight reels now and then, but there was some bad #### going on in the Ducks dressing room and moving Zegras should help fix it.

So what are Drysdale and Zegras doing together that transformed them from top NHL prospects/young stars to meh?

Rick Tocchet salivating at the idea of turning Trevor Zegras into a hard grinding 3rd liner.

Seems to me like Philly overpaid here. Pretty good deal for the Ducks.
