Not exactly PGA but Canada definitely representing with 3 players in the Presidents Cup, which starts Thursday in Montreal. Canada's Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Mackenzie Hughes

I mean it's literally a PGA event lol. I'd expect the international team gets crushed as always, but maybe the crowd can make it interesting.

Internationals always lose because their captains pick their buddies. It's never been the next best player in. In this case, Cameron Davis.

Internationals lose cause they generally are greatly outmatched and unlike the Europeans and the Ryder Cup, they simply don't care about this/don't hate the US enough.

This is true which means your selections are more important. I remember for example in 2011, the internationals had a good team and it was being held in Australia. Els, Scott, Day Schwarzel, Goosen, Ogilvy, Choi, Yang... and they left out Oosthizen and Singh for Norman's buddies Allenby and Baddeley and it was a disaster. I knew then, international would never win again, not taking this seriously. You can go back 20 years and see how bad internationals captains picks are.

Compare that to how serious the US and Europe takes it.

I'm pretty sure I've advocated canceling this before, it just will never be interesting at even 1/10th the level the Ryder Cup is. Maybe the play is to allow some Euros to play in this, maybe like three max, and it improves the competitiveness. As is, it's pretty much the equivalent of a soccer friendly between two nations who have no history together.

There have been rumblings it should be a mixed event.

Americans 6 women 6 men
World 6 women 6 men

Each of your doubles sessions would be 1 mens doubles, 1 womens doubles and 3 mixed doubles, and then the 12 singles on Sunday

Would the PGA go for it? It would have to share the pie with the LPGA but that's better than a dead event.

Pretty big crowds, that look pretty into it at the Presidents cup.

Hopefully it can stay close for a while.

Cities like Montreal getting the opportunity to see these top players play makes it worthwhile.

Just checked the scores. The US is 1up in all 5 matches.

Time to Happy Gilmore this event up to make it interesting...

- Noise makers
- Beach balls in the crowd
- Drunk, belligerent fans with carte blanche
- Two big, fat bikers having sex in the woods off 17

Otherwise, shut this #### down. Waste of everyone's time.

I love these 'classic' style golf courses. It just sucks that the modern game has rendered them obsolete. The roll back can't happen soon enough IMO.

Is the roll back really gonna matter? These guys will figure out a few different stretches or lifting techniques to get those yards back. You can't eliminate the competitive drive in them to get better.

Make drinking and smoking mandatory during game play. Drink a minimum of 4 beers and smoke 2 joints like the average recreational player does. If you down 6 by the end of 17...you getvto play 18 from the front tees.

It is not the silver bullet to make older courses relevant again, but it definitely will help.

Hitting wedge into a par 5 isn't golf IMO. Make these guys hit 3 & 4 irons into greens. Make par actually relevant without resorting to tricked up setups à la Shinnecock.

I don't think it will be long before the pro game goes towards a spec ball for majors similar to tennis. I can't think of a compelling reason not to do this other than the OEMs losing their ####.
