Residents of Yakutsk filmed at least one Su-30SM fighter jet escorting the Russian presidential aircraft. This is the first time since the beginning of the war that Putin's flight during his visit inside Russia is escorted by military aircraft. Before that, fighter jets escorted him only abroad. Like I said, Putin is wary of flying these days. https://twitter.com/user/status/1803048889232028114
Ukrainian counterattacks in Donbas and Kharkiv regions are successfully pushing back Russian forces, forcing Russia to redeploy units. ISW reports significant Ukrainian advances, affecting Russian defensive operations. https://twitter.com/user/status/1803041797171474658

DeepState reports that Russian forces have built up significant military strength to attack Borova. From Raihorodka to Novovodyane, approximately 10,000 personnel and 450 pieces of heavy equipment, including 200 artillery systems, have been amassed.
Ukraine will receive modern Skyranger air defense systems mounted on Leopard 1 chassis, calling them "Frankenstein tanks". I think that this is an excellent choice. https://twitter.com/user/status/1803033925742104669

The Prime Minister said The international community must not only draw attention to nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children taken by Russia, but must work to see them returned and ensure Russian President Vladimir Putin and those involved are “held accountable for these crimes against humanity.”
Good for Trudeau. For some reason the kidnapping and torture of children at the start of the war has been a muted narrative.

I wonder how much it hurts Putin's pride to have to suck hole to Kim Jong Un. That can't feel good.
There are some reports that the new North Korea-Russia strategic pact could include North Koreans supplying weapons and possibly soldiers. South Korea said in light of this, they are considering supplying arms to Ukraine, and from what I understand, South Korea makes some quality equipment these days.

There is a pretty crazy video post on Twitter today of a Russian soldier getting injured by an FPV drone. When he is laying on the ground, he points to his head and the soldier walking behind him just casually shoots him in the head to put him out of his misery and carries on like it's nothing. I don't know if he would have been a viable rescue or not, but it's hard to fathom not even trying and just euthanizing the soldier with a bullet seconds after it happened. There was just no hesitation at all.
I won't post the video here because it is pretty graphic and disturbing. If someone is really curious, it was posted by Igor Sushko (@igorsushko).

Warographics with an optimistic look on the future of Ukrainian air force. Total number of F-16:s promised is now 90+, which is a pretty serious amount, even though it will take time for all of them to arrive. Still, some dozens should already arrive before the end of the year, and the first ones should arrive during the summer along with the first trained pilots. On top of that, Sweden is sending them to Saab 340 AWACS, which are a great addition... if they don't get shot down.
France is also donating an unspecified number of Mirages along with pilot training (they don't have F-16:s to donate).
Pilot training is the real bottleneck at this point.
While it will still take time for these to make an impact, the fact that countries keep making new longterm and significant military aid commitments is of course extremely important.
(The part about Ukraine is in the beginning of the video.)
Anders Puck Nielsen with a critical view of US:s Ukraine policy, essentially saying that it doesn't look very realistic to achieve, and that their idea of "escalation management" isn't very logical or fact based.
In short, US basically doesn't want either side to completely win the war, as they fear that a Russian victory would lead to a new war, but a total Russian loss could lead to a Russia collapsing as a state. So the US ideal solution would be the right kind of peace deal, the kind of a deal neither side is even a little bit interested in at the moment.
Not directly related to the war in Ukraine, but there were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by ISIS-K in Dagestan today that may be a sign of growing unrest in Russia.
The attacks were on religious institutions and several law enforcement were killed.
Updated to 20 people killed, 15 of which were law enforcement.

Hard to say if it's growing unrest as such, but ISIS activating in Russia is bad news for basically everyone, including Putin.
This is bad for his strongman image, and it shows the weakness of Russias internal security.
It also of course hints that if Kremlins central authority would collapse, it would likely be very ugly in a lot of places
Ukraine has started to field test air-to-air drones, which if successful could become a technological turning point. In other words, maybe the answer to "what to do with all the drones" is "build even more drones".
This honestly just seems like a pretty logical step. Basically drones are kind of fast-tracking the same phases through which airplanes went, from reconnaissance and dropping hand grenades to purpose built fighters and bombers.
