Ok - you’ve convinced me. I really want Flames to draft Tij Iginla now. Did someone suggest trading 9+41+ Pelletier to move up to 5 in another thread? Would do this, but only if Tij is available at 5!

That would be a catastrophe. Trading up from our spot in this draft is pointless.

Take those other assets you mentioned and get another top 15 instead. Now we're talking.

I say really focus on bloodlines and name recognition and look at a few more players (not necessarily draft but perhaps free agent signings)

Jordan Tonelli - hard nosed checking winger who learned from one of the best https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=217110

Ryan St Louis https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=228230 - let’s get this St Louis right

Sutter Muzzatti https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=228892 - have to trade with Nashville but get a Muzzatti that performs for the Flames

Ethan Manderville https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=194525 - get er done. Dad was a key piece of a classic Flames trade.

Jackson Nieuwendyk https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=223445 - get both kids from a blockbuster Flames deal.

Tristan Amonte https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/...php?pid=214021 - as evidenced by his stats, learned how to hit the crossbar like a pro from his old man.

Names, memories and most importantly bloodlines you can count on.

For sure. Definitely need 41 and Pelletier to take us to a Stanley Cup.

Oh boy.

I'm just saying the 2-13 prospect range is so tight that moving up from 9 to 5 wouldn't move the needle for us. Better off using Pelletier and 41, in your argument, to get a SECOND top 15 pick.

Interesting.

Chicago has traded
20+54+61
To the islanders for
18+50

Move up two of their picks for the cost of a very late second

Pelletier and 41 isn't getting close to a top 15 pick.

I think the point is that if you’re thinking about including hose pieces in a trade, better to focus on getting another top 15 pick instead of moving up the one you already have.

9+12 would be better value in this specific draft than 5 imo.

Hawks continues to have a ton of picks, so losing a very late 2nd likely means little to them. They must want more flexibility for that #18 pick.

Gotta wonder if the Isles float a couple of those picks in a Marner package

Look you come across as if you are arguing facts.

Others don't.

That's my take on things.

Can you spare me the CP be CP crap? I have a pretty strong track record of a quarter century of treating people fairly.

Classic "I'm getting called out on my BS, but it's everyone else that is the problem" post.

Gold star for you!

To me kind of weird timing for a draft trade. How do they know the guy they really want doesn’t slip back to 20? Wonder if hawks have a ledge where their lists fall off and that number is 20?

Or they really want to get into the top 15...and they are trying to step their way into it.

Easier to trade into the top 15 with pick 18 than pick 20.

And really the cost being 61 to improve both of their other picks (20 to 18 and 54 to 50) doesn't seem that costly.
