I’ve only flown business where you have to use westjets headphones.
The correct method is to plug in a bluetooth transponder and bring a portable speaker.

Can you use travel agents based in a different country? Are there problems doing so?

Yes you can.

No, it's generally not a problem.

Probably the biggest potential downside is currency exchange (if you don't have a no-fee credit card) assuming you're dealing with someone reputable.

YYC News: WestJet adds nonstop flights from Calgary to Tulum, Mexico (TQO) to their schedule.

The new flights will start on November 9th and operate once per week (Saturdays).

TQO airport opened in December of 2023.

It'll be interesting to see if westjet Mastercard holders still get a free checked bag when flying on that fare.

Yeah good question. You'd think/hope so

I'm curious if it'll actually be cheaper, or just replace the current basic fare

This quote and mention of in-flight entertainment stood out to me. I guess at some point in the near term entertainment will be an option or maybe they will have PPV offerings for certain movies/tv shows.

Quote:
The thinking behind the model is that budget-conscious travellers can choose to pay a stripped-down, basic fare while more comfort-minded passengers can purchase extras like the ability to select a seat, check a bag or access in-flight entertainment.

Are there any rumours about Porter flying out of places out west as a hub? I would love a Porter YYC-YVR route. Given some of their US West destinations (San Fran, LA, Vegas) it would seem YVR would be the natural fit there. Are there capacity issues at YVR preventing this from happening any time soon?

Stayed at a friend's place, sadly can't give any advice on where else is good down there.

Any reason why Flair isn't flying Calgary-Kelowna route anymore? (not that I love Flair but options are nice...)

If I was betting I would say the latter, providing the room to sell more seats at the higher fares. For those that actually want carry on, bags, seat selection. etc.

And advertising a super barebones price is more eye-catching, even if most won’t want it.

WestJet issues lockout notice to their Encore regional pilots, they respond with a strike notice

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/westjet-e...ible-1.6905854

Quote:
WestJet Encore pilots could walk off the job this weekend if an agreement isn’t reached with the airline, after filing a 72-hour strike notice.

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), the union representing the pilots, announced the strike notice on Wednesday, saying its members can begin job action on June 1 if the two parties can’t come to terms on a new contract.

WestJet issued an advanced lockout notice to the ALPA on Wednesday afternoon. The airline said a work stoppage could occur as early as 6 p.m. MT on June 1.
Quote:
The union and the airline resumed bargaining two weeks ago after the pilots rejected a tentative agreement.

ALPA noted that progress has been made, but the two sides are still apart on some of the issues important to the pilots

I have a Westjet flight Saturday. how do I know if its Encore or Westjet normal?

Also. I am taking golf clubs and I paid for a bag. Is that the same thing or did I have to buy another bag?
