I keep getting called by Telus.
Today when I told him we have no Fiber in my area he said let me check and call back in 24-48 hours, I said I can see it right on your website. He said no let me see if we are coming to your area.
He called back in 10 minutes and said we have the panel to install the internet. I said I am only interested in the fiber option, ready to buy out my Rogers together with Shaw contract and everything. So I thought they are actually offering the service here. Nope after hassling with him to tell me which fiber Optik package I was getting he said it was just internet but dedicated to my family.
The best they can do is 150 download and 30 upload. I tested my current connection with him on the line and it was triple what he was saying.
Offered me a 30 day trial to see if we like it.
Sure the deal is good, but having dialup speeds? No thank you.

Yeah but your Internet is shared! Those bits are contaminated.

Yes that is what he said, when its peak hour our speeds will be the same, because I am not using a shared a connection.
The neighborhood next over has the Fiber service.

Close enough to work out a deal and run a cable over to share the fibre?

You can now set and modify recordings on the Shaw Ignite app/web site. Finally.
Of course, this basic feature should've been standard many, many years ago. And I'm not sure why Shaw/Rogers was so resistant to adding it.

We switched to Lightspeed a few months ago and it was incredibly seamless. New modem in the mail, unplug Shaw modem, plug in Lightspeed modem, done. Kept the same speeds and dropped our monthly bill from $100 to $40. 10/10 would recommend.

They had it and took it away. I think when the app was branded "Blue Sky" it was available.

If it's 150/30 then it's ADSL he offered you.

I love how the dirty crooks at telus #### on shaw for being a shared service when their GPON works the same way. Not that it isnt better. but theyre still ####ing hypocrites. like how the fibre landline is exactly the same tech as shaws, but they will talk about how unreliable shaws phone is.

Internet has been out all day in my area:
Quote:
Crews have determined this outage is due to a fibre cut caused by vandalism and attempted theft of copper wire. Repairing a damaged fibre line can typically take between 8 to 12 hours, once fibre technicians are able to safely begin their work.

I'd love to know how big this outage area is. I woke up to it out at home, thankfully not across the Deerfoot at work. But a coworker over in Winston Heights is also affected by it.

Based on the batch of notifications I just got, I'm going to hazard a guess that our internet in Sunnyside has been restored.

Internet came back for us around 10:30pm last night just as I was falling asleep. Of course, I stopped that nonsense and proceeded to doom scroll for a couple hours and now feel like ass today. Thanks, Rogers.

So I just activated a XB7 modem 2 days ago. Both nights at 3:30am I have woken up because our house alarm has lost internet connection.
It looks like all the devices on 2.4 are offline (cameras, security, thermostat), but my phone on the 5 is still connected. I reset the modem and everything is back to normal, and there are no issues at any other time.
Online support says the issue is the splitter and will send a new one, but I find it hard.to believe the splitter is causing an issue at one specific time every night. Thoughts?

Did you just plug it in and go with the default wireless settings?
If so I would suggest manually setting up a separate 2.4 and 5 connections. iirc by default its one connection that handles both and switches based on signal strength and whatnot. Could be an issue with it trying to switch to 5 on things that aren't compatible.

Yes I left it to switch on its own. I did it that way on the XB6 with no issue. Maybe you are right though? Splitter weakens the signal and the modem tries to flip it to 5.
