I use ChatGPT quite a lot in my day to day, and I've found it cuts down my email time considerably. The ability to have a small LLM (chatbot) within the phone that works across the entire ecosystem wherever there's a text field is highly intriguing.
For example, today I walked past a truck for a fireplace maintenance company, which reminded me I told my wife I'd get ours sorted before fall. So I went over to their site and filled out their quote form. As I was walking, I dictated the comment section using the microphone, which was obviously riddled with grammatical errors and stumbles.
With AI (as it's advertised from Apple), I could essentially just highlight it and say "fix that" and it would sweep everything. More likely though, I wouldn't even dictate it fully and would just more likely give a stream of conscious bullet-point thoughts and then have it form it into a coherent paragraph.
I'm also highly weird about my notifications, and early reports from people trying out iOS18 have pointed to the AI notification summaries as one of the best features. Having important things dynamically float to the top and say "Bill needs an answer on that trip" just tickles the part of my brain that requires the world to get a little quieter.
Also I've always loved the concept of Siri. I use it more than most, and it's almost always disappointing. A big thing about ChatGPT is the conversational nature of it, which Siri has always lacked. Being able to plan a calendar event and go back and forth instead of having to give it all details in one frantic word salad is something that matters to me.
There is the whole "apps will intelligently talk to other apps" thing which will be magical, but as mentioned I wouldn't expect that until maybe next year. Still, when it comes to this kind of stuff, I'm very much an early adopter.

They're not exactly nailing the communication on what's coming when... it seems like Apple Intelligence is releasing in US English first and then Canadian English in December. To me that's just a regional setting on the phone that (as far as I know) just flags certain words as being spelled incorrectly, like colour or honour. At least in the beta, that's what Canadians had to change in the settings to get it to work on their devices, so I'm hoping that's the case here.
