I just got home from the game, and I thought the key for Calgary was their great start to the third period, when it looked like LA had taken over at the end of the 2nd.

Bingo, I remember when you used to say (among others iirc) that winning streaks usually come after games that should have been a W but instead was another loss. and vice versa.
I think last night was a perfect example. They deserved a better fate against the Blues before getting this result. Shows that players will never intentionally lose as a collective because it just isn't in a competitive persons DNA.

Agreed. He is looking better this time - able to keep up to the NHL game.
A summer to work out and catch his breath, and he will be an everyday player next year.

Good to mix in the occasional win.
None of those guys will be on the Flames when they're next competitive, but hopefully we can pump their returns through productivity in the meantime like we did with Glencross.

Coronato could do with an extra gear to his skating. Get him working with Fujita.

He is.
Very hard to make strides on your skating during the season - especially when you are playing twice as many games as you ever have.
One of the side benefits of sucking and rebuilding is that the off-season is very long, and there is lots of time for the kids to work on things. Coronato is just getting to that point where he is growing into his man-strength. I suspect that after a long summer, and working with Fujita, he will come back stronger, faster, and ready for the NHL grind.

Beating the Kings brings their expected finish down to 98 points. Calgary has to win out to get to 91.
10th place team is on a .500 pace ... Calgary needs to go 4-5-0 to finish top ten in draft position.

I see him getting to spots quicker now.
It looks frantic, but I think his speed is picking up.
Some good hands a few times last night too.
