Last 3 seasons:
42g 82pts - +/- of +61
22g 64pts - +/- of +6
14g 41pts - +/- of -13
GMing 101, you don't give a player trending down hard $45.5m especially a player who clearly wanted out of here unless you want to be fired.

It was apparent to me that he wasn't happy here. They took his toys and sent them away and he had nothing fun to play with. He enjoyed Calgary but the team was going in a different direction than he wanted to be a part of. His huge ask was probably what it would have taken to keep him on a team that needed a rebuild but his body language appeared to be that of someone who was frustrated and needed change.
tldr; He wouldn't want to come back to the team in this situation.

His toys left because they didn’t want to be here anymore.

Hot take:
He won't have a contract at the start of next season.

I was one of a few who were critical of his fitness after that beach photo that appeared after the 2022/23 all-star break. I wonder if he is losing some of the desire he had for playing hockey and is finding it difficult to make the commitment required at this level of the game. Pure speculation.

I think he'll get a contract, he's still a good player, but its going to be for 2-3 years and probably just what he's making now.
Which I think would be a good contract for 'this' Lindholm.
I dont know what he was thinking. His contract demands sky-rocketed while his play plummeted?

Jurmo has signed and flown to Calgary to join the Wranglers, they have 8 games remaining then playoffs, playoffs start for Brzustewicz in the OHL tomorrow, Kuzmenko has some promise as a top 6 and PP forward for the Flames right now, and we get to think about who the Flames will pick with Vancouver's 1st. I don't care about Lindholm anymore, actually thankful he built this reputation in NHL circles as a selke quality center that got the Flames a haul. There's so much to like and you're all going in circles about this guy, did he have abs at the 2023 all star break, who cares?

This trade continues to make absolutely no sense for Vancouver. Insanity.

The Flames got a good package from the Canucks and Lindholm hasn't worked out so far. From the Canucks perspective there is still plenty of time and if Lindholm returns for the playoffs and is a contributor on a team that does well, which is a lot of ifs, the trade may still be a net positive. At the very least it shows the Canucks core that they are invested in winning.

July 1 is when GM's turn into idiots and get FOMO, I'm sure it will happen with Lindholm too. They'll convince themselves that the player maybe wasn't working out somewhere else, but because they're the smartest guy in the room the player is sure to work out for them and their team.
I just hope some other team signs players to huge contracts that they never perform up to instead of us.

That GM won't outlast that contract, thats for damned sure.
I dont see him getting long-term based on his age and, rather poor, recent performance.
He might get a 'Backlund' type deal, which wouldnt be bad for either side really.

Unless he takes a one year deal to bet on himself I bet he still gets a 7 year contract close to 7 million.
All it takes is one GM to think he makes a difference over the next two or three seasons. I don’t think this will be the off-season GMs suddenly figure out free agency typically blows.
