Everyone excited about unprotected 2026 1st…

Vegas is just going to Vegas, who’s to say the pick will fall low? I’m betting itll be in the 20s

Funny how everyone (especially BarnBurner) was making fun of Conroy for being pushed around by McCrimmon on the option to push the pick to 2026, but getting it unconditional is HUGE. That could be a franchise altering thing for the Flames. Like Dreger said, unconditional 1st rounders don’t get traded anymore, there’s too much risk.

I'll take gamble the the 26 pick will be worse than the 25. Maybe the Flames will get some luck

Watch them only give up like a 2nd round pick.

I would love the Flames to be a retention broker on this deal, flip another asset or pick to take 10%

Still early to know for sure but it's expected that a late pick in 2026 is better than 2025, so we still get a better pick.

But there's a chance now! Previously given the top 10 protection, it was never going to be a lotto ticket, but now? They finish anywhere in lotto land and let's gooo

Doubt Flames have any interest on retaining for 6 years.

Stone done done? Some reports say the back is done and might only have one more kick at the can. Herlt steps in for him next year? Who knows. Don't care. Vegas can win it all again.

Kinda funny that it took the conditions to get the unconditional pick though. If we wanted an unconditional 1st and Vegas wanted to keep the 2025 1st for a trade, why couldn't they just straight up agree to trade 2026 unconditional and forget all about the 2025 1st?

And as I think about it, I guess this way it gave Vegas the flexibility to either deal their 2025 or 2026 1st in the second deal and kept negotiating options open for them.

Jokes aside, they looked dreadful last night. They missed Stone, badly. They were outplayed for long stretches of the game and even when they pushed back they looked non-threatening.

Vegas is in a scary position where they could legitimately miss the play-offs. Which seems incredibly outrageous to think but, they looked real bad. It reminds me a lot of the first Eichel year where they just couldn't right the ship and ended up missing despite pulling out all the stops.

This move is them desperately trying to make sure that Stone has play-offs to come back to.

Oilers fans are in absolute shambles. Full blown meltdowns. I love it. What a swing by the Golden Knights!

There's always a chance of a steep decline for Vegas following years of doing things exactly like this and it catching up to them.

Credit, they go for it while they can. I hope they beat the Oilers, then follow it up with a terrible 25-26.
