Only if you mispelled Forsling when you typed Montour.

We'll be plenty young. Granted I'd stop short of an 8 year deal, but we would finally have someone who can run a PP.
I don't mind the idea of keeping our D veteran focused through the retool and was pretty huge on signing Noah, but I understand the age would scare many.

I'd like to see Poirier up here soon to see if he can handle that.

I know three way deals almost never happen (aside from the 75% with a third party) but Ekblad to Toronto, retention by Calgary, and Hanifin to Florida makes a lot of sense. Maybe that’s the way we pry the 1st out of Treliving and also grabbing Lundell. Likely doesn’t happen though, Toronto and Florida don’t want to help each other. Or rather than retention on Ekblad we take Brodie back.

We've definitely got some guys coming up who might fit, but it's not very often your see a rookie run a PP. Biggest hole on this team IMO.

So...Florida...in an effort to load up for another playoff run drops Lundell and Ekblad for Hanifin?
This is why 3 way deals rarely happen, especially in season. It's hard to get enough players into the deal to meet each teams needs...

Far more likely they keep Lundell and Ekblad and send us a 1st, 2nd and a depth player off their roster for Hanifin as a rental.
In which case I am sure we take a better offer from someone else.

Powerplay Quarterback

This has nothing to do with trades, but doesn't Carter Verhaeghe look like Craig Conroy?

I don't see the Panthers trading Ekblad, that being said I also don't think the Flames would accept a 1st, 2nd and depth player either for Hanifin.

At the deadline, the Flames need to accept something, or let him walk for nothing. As much as they wouldn't want to accept that, it might be the best they can do. I hope not.

What’s next? Noah Hanifin is locked-in on Tampa Bay, but if that was so easy to do, it would be done already. I don’t believe that’s the only team he’d sign with, but does Calgary get to a point where it says enough is enough and does what it can without his approval?

It has been a smart move to allow the agents to step in and try to work out a contract over the last 7-10 days, but hopefully there is an internal deadline of say Wednesday at noon before they start floating him as a pure rental.

Just do a rental deal. I don't think TB can offer enough, even in a sign-and-trade.

It’s tactics on the flames part; I think Noah ends up in Florida ultimately, but with the panthers; Conroy is trying to squeeze a better deal out of Zito.
