Don’t think bringing him back the plan either. Don’t think Sutter had much of a plan for the team during the end.

The Rangers also missed the playoffs on him being stopped as the last shooter in the shootout.

These trades seem different sending a guy to a contender to try and win it all.

What is happening with Lian Bichsel? Why did he return to Europe? Is there an issue that might make Nill move him, or watch out for an acquiring team?

Bourque may not be either.
I see, perhaps throwing in a lower pick (4th) with Tanev could maybe get a deal done for Stankoven.

From what I’ve seen of Bourque to me he projects as a bottom 6 forward. I rather take a shot at someone getting desperate and giving up a late 1st or early 2nd.

Ty Dellandrea + pick would be solid.

Gives us a young center with some upside.

Unless that pick is a 1st that is pretty poor return. Maximum 3rd line upside with Dellandrea. He is also a winger.

He has an European assignment clause in his ELC.

Common for 1st rounders from Europe. If they spend too much time in the AHL they opt to return home for the rest of the season.

Ok but a 1st or early 2nd has yet to present itself. And most prospects you get there aren't as good as where Bourque is tracking.
If you were the Stars would adding a 4th entice you to give up your best prospect?

There's zero indication that Stankoven is available.

Again though are people ignoring what the widely reported offers are?

Right now it's a 2nd.
Not a 1st.
So why do we think suddenly not only is a first going to be offered but also a prospect worth probably at least a 2nd.

That's a big jump in the value.

Would love to see it, but i feel like people are setting themselves up for a let down.

Just wackiness.
And to be fair I really liked both guys. Good players, but questionable moves in keeping a competitive window open when they shouldn't have been, whereas with a guy like Tanev, if he wanted to come back it would be more of a mentoring youth type move.

Sorry, understand what you are saying. It was more to illustrate the point that Dellandrea is a very underwhelming prospect.

Of the playoff teams, I think the Jets are the only one who have an early 2nd. Don’t know if the Jets are one if he 12 interested teams, but an early 2nd would be better than most playoff teams have to offer

Bourque or Bichsel I’d take, anything else I feel Dallas isn’t a front runner if the bidding war is as deep as they say it is.

Dellandrea is a reclamation project at best, I don’t see any long term fit there honestly.
He’s not good enough for top 6 and not really an energy/crash and bang bottom 6 guy either… he’s maybe a Lazar type guy at best at this point.

So if it’s not one of the first 2 guys I’d argue Dallas’s offer isn’t very good.

Delleandra, bourque or lundquist along with a middle pick is the best guess. I would actually be willing to add to tanev if bicshel was available.

TBH I never would have expected Bourque or Stankoven to be on the table for Tanev. Maybe you could have gotten that type of return for a Lindholm or Hanifin with an extension but not for Tanev.

A first or a 2nd + a "B" Prospect would be where it ends up most likely.

Dellandrea seems like a underwhelming return.

Hopefully we get the better offensive prospects.

Lebrun uses the term packages on the table so a 2nd round pick isn’t all that’s being offered, it’s just the most valuable piece.

Safe to say the prospects being offered aren’t “A” prospects. But a 2nd, 3rd and a prospect of some value wouldn’t be so bad.

i wouldnt mind a 2nd, lundkvist + a prospect like kyrou/grushkinov

you get another higher lottery ticket, a 23 year old top 4 defencemen and another dman which will likely have a shot to be an nhl defencemen

What I don't get from the GMs and the media, is if they think Tanev is the best D available, how is he not worth a 1st? Same goes for Hanifin. Especially in a year where the draft is relatively weak at a certain point. Add to it good defencemen are seen as the backbone of a winning team, plus the scarcity. I just don't understand how the GMs are not paying the price when all the stars seem to align that this is easily the price that should be paid. In a weak draft year, and in a year where there isn't a lot out there, it should more easily be paid. The whole situation seems bizarre. Sure teams could wait and see, but they risk someone paying the price. I just don't get any of it this year.
