I made the mistake of looking up comments on Twitter. The amount of people in the West who are pro-Putin is unbelievable. My family knows a few of them here in Calgary as well -- decent, nice people otherwise, but pro-Putin to the core with outrageous beliefs about Navalny, Ukraine, Nato, etc. that have no basis in reality.
Navalny signed his own death warrant by returning to Russia. It was just a matter of time and unfortunately, his death won't be the start of any popular uprising. Russians are sheep.

Any uprising would be out down quick anyway. People are being arrested just for public mourning

I'd say thats shocking, but given the volume of Trump supporters nothing is really shocking anymore.
We're circling the bowl at the moment.

Although I am no Putin fan, I find that a lot of people who may be more aligned with his views on this conflict are coming from an angle of "why is Ukraine our problem" A lot of people don't like that the west is involved and that America is the worlds police in this and other matters.
I am of the view that Putin should have been taken out by the world's leaders ages ago and at the start of this war. I also think there is SOME validity to the concerns that a reasonable person has with regards to sending billions of dollars in military aid to another country when there are SO many issues at home.
Fully on Team Ukraine here and I understand the geopolitical nature in all of this but some of the concerns people have are legit concerns

I think I'm getting what your saying. But I do want to dispute on the part that the World Leaders should have taken him out at the start of the war. What are we talking about here? An assassination? Or some kind of political action.
Because I guarantee it, this isn't like the movies, lets say that you manage to assassinate Putin, the instability of a nuclear armed government is the best case scenario, the worst case is the next guy on the ladder turns the key and all hell breaks lose.
On the political side of things, lets say you engineer a scandal of some kind, or rig an election. It won't matter and won't remove Putin.

This is how you fight Russia without fighting Russia. In fact, this is going to be a good litmus test for what to expect from the Russian war machine down the road. Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltics have all made statements that war with Russia is likely not far off.
If there was ever a conflict with Russia, this is what American war planners should be salivating over - a proxy war to test emerging military technology and avoid losses on their own ranks.
It sounds brutal, but this is the perfect opportunity to send more supplies and equipment and weaken a major threat to the Western world.
Letting Ukraine fall is going to go down in this history books as one of the greatest blunders in European history.

CBC's The Current did a segment on Navalny today. They had Browder on and then re-aired Matt Galloway's conversation with director Daniel Roher, who did the documentary on Navalny. Good listen.

Sounds very...'medically scientific.'
What was the Doctor's name who signed that Death Certificate? 'Guy Incognito?'

I see it too, pretty disgusting. The only footnote I'll put on that is I'm on Twitter daily and a LOT of those "people" are bots. Tons and tons and tons of pro-Putin/Trump/Musk bots on that site, it's ridiculous.
I've basically learned to ignore anyone with a Twitter join date in the 2020s, as the vast majority are bots, have a clear ugly agenda, or are just plain mental patients.

When times are tough 'Strongmen' are popular. This is a tale as old as time.
And if COVID has taught us anything its that we as a society...Do. Not. Learn.
You know that old saying, "Those who dont study history are doomed to repeat it?"
Or any of it's variations like:
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Its all nonsense.
Humanity is going to continue making the same mistakes over and over and over again. Its just our Nature.
We've learned nothing.

I'm assuming the OP mistyped when they referenced "military aid" and meant aid in general to Ukraine, suggesting that US citizens at home could really use the billions in financial assistance provided to Ukraine.

How’s the saying go… you have three different type of people:
A person watches another put their hand on the hot stovetop—>
1. The person watching the other decides to also do it, just to make sure their reaction was correct. They realize it’s hot and never does it again. Most people fall into this category. I believe it’s around 80% of the population.
2. The person watching the other sees their pain when they touch the stovetop and decides not to touch it since it’s hot. 10% of the population.
3. Then there’s the third person. They are dumb enough to watch, do it themself, but instead of never doing it again, they complete the same mistake over and over again. 10% of the population.
This is a good analogy because it shows that people have to experience themselves to fully understand the consequences. Unfortunately when it comes to authoritarianism, the consequences are so dire, you don’t have a ‘redo’ or ‘next time’ option. And unfortunately for Russia, they seem to fall into the same trap every time

And now Navalny's brother Oleg is wanted and is facing unspecified new criminal charges, the Russian interior ministry would only say he's “wanted under an article of the Criminal code,”

Who's next the mother?
